Look! It's time a special "holy-crap-it's-nearly-the-end-of-the-freaking-month" edition of the monthly newsletter!
If you wish to unsubscribe, or are receiving this same e-mail more than once, you can find the solution to your problem at the footer of each e-mail.
Let's get started, shall we?
BAD NEWS FIRST
Due to a lack of participants, it doesn't look like Quidditch will be happening at all this year. If it looks like we have the same enthusiasm from our member base for Quidditch as we once had some time ago, then we might look into it again in a few months. More members in general couldn't hurt also (Hint: tell your friends! ) Flying lessons will continue as normal.
Also, despite good activity levels on the site as a whole, participation in the competitions we had over the summer were disheartening... It seems that a lot of the people who display an interest for such competitions rarely end up entering. I don't like to be condescending, but it's really not worth the effort for us to put these together and try and promote them enough so that people participate, when the number of entrants fall short they way they have with our last two competitions. So, that's one aspect of the site that we'll likely be laying to rest, at least for awhile. :/
Now for some nicer things!
** DIARY OF THE MONTH **
As per usual, September's featured Diary entry has been selected by Jaden Aerins:
hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=diaries&action=display&thread=908
Aviana Blythe's first entry details the struggles of packing and the memories of summer. All of Avianas entries possess a fantastic spirit and the effort level is clear. Keep it up, Aviana.
CALL FOR CANONS
Wizarding Redefined has always allowed canons, but they've hardly ever become active. I think it may even be a common misconception that we don't really allow them, but we do!
I'm sending out a public request for two active, literate members to create Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. The reasons for these two characters in particular are entirely seperate.
Harry is an active and (eventually) revolutionary Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, but also a target for the remaining Death Eaters, who have referenced him in posts but never been able to attempt anything against him, since he doesn't exist as an active character.
Hermione, on the other hand, after the war, became involved in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. She fought for the rights of House Elves, but this is also significant because of Revan Haine's mission to further the rights of Vampires and other part- or non-humans.
Both of these characters would become important elements of the two major plots, and as such, may be killed. We expect that you keep to the character's canon future as depicted by JK Rowling in interviews, and in the Epilogue, but this does not grant them a "get out of being killed" free card. They don't have to live out their full lives.
In the past we have required applicants for canons to create profiles for their characters, however, though we would LIKE one to be written eventually, this is not important for the application stage, as long as you are an existing members.
If you are interested in taking these canon characters (or any others) just me, James (username: admin) a message letting me know and we'll get back to you as soon as we've decided.
Thanks guys!
** THREAD SPOTLIGHT **
This month's Thread Spotlights were selected by Laura Kehoe:
Midnight Snack - hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=kitchens09&action=display&thread=974&page=1 - Estelle takes a midnight trip to the kitchen and gets talking to Greda the House Elf, who she confuses immensely with her sudden mood changes. An interesting thread which highlights the position of House Elves in Wizard society.
Obession - hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=girls09&action=display&thread=945&page=1 - Olive is found agonizing over her weight in the Girl's bathrooms by Loopy and Estelle. Plenty of tears and drama follow as the two girls fail to understand Olive's problems.
NEW AFFILIATE IMAGE
Diana Dashwood's made a great new mini-banner for use advertising Wizarding Redefined. It's now up on the Affiliates page (http://hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=affiliate&thread=876&page=1) alongside the two from the competition. Thanks Diana!
** PRO - TIP**
Lots of members are looking into expanding their families now into roleplayable characters. Have you considered creating a Will?:
hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=gringotts&action=display&thread=66
An interesting and challenging exercise, even if your character probably isn't about to die anytime soon.
That's all for now,
- James
