Joining in classes

As I've just created this character, I was wondering what I should do about him joining classes that are already happening. I noticed most of them had a time-limit you had to join in, otherwise your character was late. So, should I just pretend he was always there, make him late, or just wait until the next batch of classes start?

since he's just been approved post an introduction which shows he was there from the beginning.

Thats unless you really want to be late for Transfiguration.. lol.
