Unbendable steel bends if the fury of the wind is unstoppable.

now some of you may have been a member of TWOM before we moved here so this is basically the same sort of thing. We need access to the admin account but because we don't have that it is very inconvenient for these reasons.
- I can not declutter the boards or do any archiving
- I can not change the look
- Technically I cannot advertise to the fullest
Please only vote with ONE account, I will know if you used more than one, and be completely honest. I wold also like it if you would tell me your reasoning in a post below.

I think that we should move, but we really need the powers to be evenly given out. If we move, the staff should definetly find a way to handle out powers so that this won't happen again.
I say move.
Suggestion: And if we do move, we should definetly try to find more professors. I feel that if there are active professors on a board, than it will stay more active. Well, at least i have seen this on other boards.

I vote to move it, but I do so with reservations. Having been apart of old TWOM - as Moira, if you didn't already know - I know how we've struggled to keep up the activity since moving here. TWOM always seemed busy and fun, and it was the perfect place to begin your role-playing experience due to the friendliness of its staff and members and the help everyone offered the newbies. Yet since moving here, we have fallen to inactivity. It saddens me that first TWOM left, then Raz, and now James. And, though I love each of them dearly for all they brought to this site, I'm disappointed. And though I don't wish to offend anyone, I find myself having to ask the question: Will it happen again? If we uproot ourselves once again and begin the laborious process of starting over, will our admin leave us once more? As you said, Jaden, Harry Potter just isn't as popular as it once was, and I can fully understand the difficulty of keeping up something you have little interest in. But I really don't want to move only for this all to happen again. Will you stay with us for as long as we need you? You ask us if we wish to stay with WR. Do you?
Again, I don't mean to offend. I just really want this all to be worth it. I want to be able to trust in our new admin.
Best Regards.

i do understand where you are coming from moira but i don't think you were actually around when we did the move. if you were i am very sorry for remembering incorrectly. we did the move because the site was going downhill fast, very fast. it was a long, hard decision to make on the other site because of all the history on the other site but in the end we decided it was for the best.
if we move this site i win put a like to the new site here so that people can easily find us. on old twom the link we had placed at the top was removed and cause many members to get lost and confused. i will not let that happen here.
and when it comes to whether i am sticking around or not, i will. i swear that i will stay with the site until it dies and if for some reason i can not i will pass the actual admin account to another user. that is one of the main issues. without access to the admin account we have to move to a new location to have access to everything. if i leave i will make sure someone gets the account so that a move will be unnecessary and there will be a seamless change in power.
and don't worry, im not offended. personally id have asked the same thing.

First up, I think moving is (mostly) a good idea, as if we can't access half the place anyway, it seems like we'd just be making life harder for ourselves if we stay.
I also agree with what Juliet and Aurelia have said above, and my main concern is: as this is the second time this has happened to this site, is it just going to keep happening? I've really enjoyed my time here, and would hate for this site just to die completely.
In the short term, I think that starting relatively anew probably is the answer - I just hope that this doesn't have to happen again.

another note i would like to add is that i am not changing the site hardly at all. the layout will be slightly different but everything from the profile application to the rules will be copied and pasted. so you can easily transfer from one site to the other without having to refill out the application and such. you will automatically be sorted into the same house and all that. it shouldn't be as .. "new" as it was moving here.

Ohaiyouguys.
I feel like it's about time I spoke! I'm so sorry for not commenting on any of this for so long - it's been a surprisingly difficult decision, to the point where I regret even typing in the domain.
There are numerous reasons for all of this happening:
The largest, and what I guess could be described as the catalyst, was Revan leaving. Though he was always a Global mod, the impact he had on the site was larger than a lot of people realized. Before he left I was approaching a turning point where I was wanting to move things up a notch while at the same time take some of the workload off of my own shoulders. Staff rearrangements were a part of that, not just in rank but in actual duties. With Revan gone it seemed like it would be rather difficult to keep things going staff wise. This isn't specific to Revan; if Jaden had left it would have been the same. There will always be replacements, and once we upped the ante we would have been looking at more members hopefully and a stronger site, so while it definitely was fixable with some hard work in the short term it was still a contributing factor.
And I didn't want to pile work on the ever-willing and determined Jaden, because even though she wanted it I felt she deserved better.
Revan also played Padril Crennent, Goldeye, and some others... I felt like the plot would crumble without some of his secret characters and definitely without Revan. We talked about replacing Revan but I would never allow it. It just wouldn't work. So the future of the plot seemed dismal too, which was especially disappointing as some of the stuff we had cooking up was really really good.
And then there's the impact of his decision on me personally - the majority of my characters spent the majority of their time with Revan's characters, and as we're friends in real life we would be discussing WR on an almost daily basis. Much of what WR meant for me would be gone. Of course a lot of other people were important to my characters, but when I have Tim who is Padril's brother (95% of my favourite tim threads featured padril), other secret ones, and another character in the works who would be Goldeye's neice (though largely independant of him) it was a big loss for me.
I was looking at a future where I'd be running WR for everybody else. I know this sounds incredibly selfish and it kind of is. The thought of letting it go was painful, but not as painful as keeping it in a state where I couldn't feel proud of what was happening post-Revan.
Ultimately it came down to school. I was never really good at the whole "work/play" balance thing, and while I'm only in Year 11 I still have troubles getting work in on time without running WR. I'd be looking at doing MORE for the site in 2009 to get it back up on its feet than had been done in 2008, which is exactly what I set out to try and avoid coming into the year (without compromising the quality of the site of course), especially with the ever dwindling active Harry Potter "fanbase" to draw members from.
Mal and I did try to talk Revan out of quitting - oh how we tried. I'd rather not try and end this bitterly, so I wont go into it too much, but his reasons cited were "not enjoying it anymore" and "realizing that it was actually a harry potter roleplay", with the usual refocus on senior schooling and such. I was very very angry at him for awhile there but we're friends again now, albeit not as close.
I'm so sorry it had to come to this and I'm sorry for disappointing you all. My personal recommendation was for us to pack up and join another site, so we could be together still, but I have a feeling that what Jaden is doing now is better. She has my full support and permission to use all of our documentation that has been developed here before (though I would like everyone else to continue to respect our rights).
I'm proud of everything we accomplished together, and glad we managed to last this long. I'd like to ask that you don't all ask me to come back, because to be perfectly honest that's what I'm afraid of and why I've been avoiding here altogether.
I'm curious as to what the plot is set to be (I really liked what we had planned, Juliet!) on this reincarnation of the site. I think I'll risk further involvement and join as a member of some sort, where I can have on days and off days, and where I don't feel as horrible as I have felt lately if I can't keep it up.
EDIT: Oh dear this is painful even looking around.
I promise Mal if I join I'll try not to micromanage for both our sakes.
>_<

If James is willing to come back, even as a member, than we should definetly try to keep this site running. Could he just switch powers to Mal or something, or is it not that simple?

ello, Well, for the most part I have pretty much been around and I occasionally checked the site. I kind of feel bad since I sort of 'ditched' this site simply because there weren't as many people and everything slowed down really fast. However if this site is still living, I will definately stay. I think moving it is a good idea because it gives us a bit of a chance to start new. If you decided to do a slightly newer layout and offered a bit more in the sense of change that other sites are doing now then I think we would attract a lot of attention. Plus, if we advertise more for a new site I think it'd be good. I'd be happy to do some advertising if you make a new site. I think the majority of the people left because of school or their lack of interest but I know there are loads of people still willing to roleplay. I think if you start up a new one and make the plot based on Harry Potter but a bit more on school life, people will join? That's what I've found. I seriously hope that made and sense. I am happy and willing to stay because I loove this site.
