(read the description for Wren's private quarters, they're on the third floor landing above the guest rooms.)
Bane's arms released Wren and he let out a low growl, "I would leave Alleyne... unless you plan on raising suspicions against me. Perhaps you should be investigating the assassination Dale Matthews has planned for tomorrow. Maybe if you were doing your supposed job, you'd have found the Death Eater meeting at the Shrieking Shack instead of running into someone's private quarters and insinuate that," a harsh edge crept into Bane's voice, "I would be under suspicion. I suggest you leave before this gets nasty."
Bane's hand fell to the grip of the walker colt as he gave Miranda a look of warning.

Stretching her arm out without thinking, Wren grabbed Bane's leg and breathed in sharply damn pain .
"Bane, don't...not now. No more fights today, please, I can't handle it. This isn't worth getting yourself in trouble for, besides, I would get in the way." Tilting her head to the side, as best she could, Wren peeped through the slits that her eyes were, she couldn't open them any further, and the haze that covered the room didn't help in allowing her to see the anonymous woman in the room.
"Look Miss, I really don't think now is the time. If you have any issues with what has happened between me and my partner...please...come back later."

(Ah, that explains plenty)
Miranda was surprised by Bane's outward hostility and threats, yet gave him a cold look. Death Eaters meeting in the Shrieking Shack? Why would he bother to make up something so stupid? But...she remembered that shiver of intuition she had had earlier, but decided she'd deal with it after Orwell, even if he wasn't lying. He was threatening an Auror, acting as the head of the Office no less. She turned to him, "I wasn't insinuating anything, Orwell, but I would watch your tone." Her eyes caught the motion of Wren's arm and she followed it to her. She listened patiently and thankfully. Taylor seemed sensible enough.
"That seems more than reasonable," Miranda agreed. "But would you mind some healing? I think I could ease some of the pain." And she wanted some more time with Bane. Was he telling the truth or was he just lying to try and get her out?
What annoyed her the most was Orwell's suggestion she wasn't doing her job. She was the best damn Auror in the Office and she knew it. No one was more dedicated, more professional. She hadn't retired after the war. She knew what had been coming.

Bane's hand fell ontop of Wren's and squeezed it gently. He was about to back down like Wren asked when Miranda opened her foolish mouth again. Who the hell did she think she was, some form of police officer.... she had absolutely no business here.... neither had used magic in the fight.
Bane's lips twisted into a sneer at Miranda, "Alleyne, unless you've taken a job as a police officer for muggle law enforcement, you've got no business here for something that involved NO magic. And if you've got a problem with my tone, than it's your problem, not mine. You trespassed in my partner's private quarters and have refused to leave when she told you to. Unless you have grounds of suspicion that would tie us to any illegal uses of magic, leave. Your," contempt crept into Bane's voice, "services are unnecessary."
Bane removed his hand from the revolver and used it to stroke Wren's leg gently.

Wren squeezed Bane's leg so lightly, he probably didn't feel it, but it was all she could muster. Pathetic. "Bane..." she hissed softly and shook her head "Don't..."
Prizing her eyes open as much as they'd give, she looked up at Miranda; "No healing is necessary t-thank you..." Running her semi-good hand through her hair, the knuckle was still broken, Wren forced a tight smile. "Leaving is probably a good idea though Miss, I refuse to let anything else kick off in my pub. This was a private argument that, technically, no one had the right to get involved in, as Bane stated, no magick was used. Just...please...leave."
Letting her eyes fall closed again, Wren kept her breathing soft and shallow to try and control the pain. At least until after Miranda left.

Horror and anger struck Miranda as recognition hit her, "YOU did this, Bane?" she demanded. "And why the hell did you assume it was perfectly okay to beat the hell out of someone when you didn't use magic?"She had been rather confused earlier to the cause of Taylor's bruises but they kept calling it an argument and he was so defensive...
"Consider yourself suspended!" she snapped. "And officially detained for questioning. We do have laws for muggle brawling!" She glanced at Wren, looking rather helpless on the bed. "If you want to prosecute, we can help you." Her wand, still out, was now ready if not exactly pointed at Orwell. She didn't want to imply he'd have to fight her but she was ready for it, he seemed rather aggressive tonight. There wasn't a lot they can do if Wren didn't want to prosecute, however, except hold him at the MLE for a maximum of 48 hours. After that time, she supposed, at worst he would lose retirement benefits and lose his job at the Ministry. She was unsure of how it would be done, however, given Bane's unique case. But if he fought...
Well, Azkaban seemed likely for dueling an Auror and refusing questioning.
