Ok, I'm going to sound like a whiner here (sorry) but the points thing is slightly unfair - I mean, Gryffindor has like twice as many students as all the other houses, and if every one of them gets five points every day (which they seem to be doing lately lol), none of the other houses are ever going to be able to catch up. It just seems kind of one-sided to me...

Yep. I feel sort of bad for lytherin and Hufflepuff. This way, they'll never get the cup. It also bugs me how Hufflepuff always seemed to look upto Gryffindor and ravenclaw. It's not fair. They almost never get in trouble, yet they never win. Weird.

Yea I also feel bad. But I guess it's just that people don't want to be Slytherin and act bad so everyone hates you and then you have to be bad in class and lose more points. I think it's more easier to make a character that's witty and brave and a good person so thats why everyone makes their character like that, or like themselves.
Hufflepuff never seem to lose points but they always lose and are in the background. It is weird.

Well, lately everyone seems to hate Slytherin! I've always liked it, I think it's because my favorite character is Voldemort, but I mean, Slytherin isn't THAT bad! LOL! But I kinda like how the point thing is going, I mean, in the old TWOM, the points never changed (at least since I was there) so here, it's more real... Let's hope we catch up!

I agree with Loopy at leat the points change. I also think it's unfair to hufflepuff and slytherin.ther's barely any of them.
Hufflepuff never seem to lose points but they always lose and are in the background. It is weird.[/quote]
And hufflepuff sometimes loses point they just don't gain them as quickly as gryffindor or ravenclaw and hufflepuff is sometimes in the background but not always

If I may but in, there has been many times that the point system has not been quite fare in the books too. I mean, look at Severus with his ridiculous deductions toward Gryffindor. Look at Dumbledore with his ridiculous additions toward Harry. With the point system, all is fare.

In the books though, the houses were balanced and all had roughly the same number of students, so it was theoretically possible for anyone to catch up even if they did lose a fair amount of points (although I'll give you the Dumbledore thing). It just seems that here, because Gryffindor has two or three times as many students, they have that many more chances to win house points and therefore will always be in the lead. Slytherin has what, four students as of right now? Gryffindor has how many? Twelve? Also I disagree with what Alyssa said about Slytherin students, why just because they're Slytherin do they have to be bad and have everyone hate them? Remember in the Philosopher's Stone, they won the House Cup until Dumbledore butted in and gave Gryffindor 160 points In general I think Slytherins are rather smart, and just because they wear the green and silver doesn't mean they HAVE to be bad and have everyone hate them That's like saying everyone in Gryffindor HAS to be in the Order of the Phoenix or something, or everyone in Ravenclaw HAS to be a genius. It's stereotyping, dammit! Lol

Yes, Jaden was Slytherin on TWOM, yet she was nice enough. Good points Sky. I don't understand why most don't wish to be Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is nice, and friendly, mostly. Also, they are always looking upto everybody. Not fair.

Yea, that is true Sky, but then again maybe Slytherin only got points because of Snape. It just seems that all the Slytherins are nasty in the book and the Slytherins on this site act mean (not that they are in realy life), so I think everyone else expects them to be mean and so do they. That's why I think they act mean. Plus, everyone hates the Slytherins according to the plot, so then they should act mean right? They don't want anybodys company and they think everyone hates them so they act mean in class and lose points. That's just my opinion and reasoning if it made any sense !

Not necessarily; I find it hard to believe that Snape could have been the ONLY teacher to give Slytherin points, and also, if they misbehaved all over the place, they would have been losing points like crazy from all the other teachers and no matter how much Snape tried to give them points back, they wouldn't have been able to claim first place. I agree that they have a bad rap, but I think that's mostly because of the whole "Slytherin's turned out more dark witches and wizards than any other house" BUT! Theoretically dark witches and wizards COULD come from other houses. After all, look at Zacharias Smith. He wasn't exactly a bowl of peaches, now was he? Also, in the book, we are seeing things from Harry's perspective so of course everything that the Slytherins do is going to seem a lot meaner and "darker" than if we were seeing it from another perspective, maybe from someone who wasn't quite so set against Slytherin. Besides - if Malfoy had turned out to be as bad as he seemed, would Dumbledore have worked so hard to save him in sixth year? And in Deathly Hallows, Malfoy attempts to save Harry's life by pretending he doesn't recognize him at the Malfoy Manor, AND by deflecting Crabbe and Goyle's spells in the Room of Requirement when they try to kill Harry, Ron and Hermione. And ALSO - at the end of Deathly Hallows, JK Rowling makes it clear that Harry and Malfoy have a sort of "truce" - while not friends, they don't hate each other anymore (although I don't think the same can be said for Ron ). Anyway, I'm ranting. Sorry. My point is I don't think that being cruel and centered around the Dark Arts are the ONLY requirements needed to get into Slytherin. There has to be SOME good Slytherins...look at Snape.

The thing is, Slytherin students are often disagreeable in their early years, but I think this is because they're mostly pure-bloods, and a lot of the pure-blood families are stuck up and anti-Muggle. They start out with a lot more prejudice than other students and as anyone can tell you, the sorts of beliefs your parents spout in your formative years will surely be the things you yourself spout until you grow up and learn better - if you do, that is. But that doesn't mean that Slytherin students are always going to be "bad", just as it means that Gryffindor students aren't always going to be "good" - look at Percy Weasley, he sure didn't act like a Gryffindor about the whole "Voldemort is back" thing. All he cared about was keeping his job and staying on the good side of the Minister.
