Ahhh... summer is drawing to a close. It's bitter sweet, don't you think? As usual, lately, there's a lot going on here so this newsletter is jam-packed with... stuff.
If you wish to unsubscribe, or are receiving this same e-mail more than once, you can find the solution to your problem at the footer of each e-mail.
Anyway, let's get to it.
COMPETITIONS!
If you missed it, the results have been posted for last month's Mini-Banner Competition. Congratulations to Jaden and Juliet! You can view the winning graphics here: hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=793&page=1#13533
Also, Revan has a great new fanfiction competition. hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=839&page=1 Full rules can be seen in the link, but the story must at least mention a salamander, a brooch and wizarding children's book titled "Broomsey, the Talking Broom!". The number of entrants so far has not matched the number of people who originally expressed interest, so at this stage there isn't a lot of competition. If you want those WRC, you may just be in with a good chance, so get your entry in before the 1st of September!
** MEMBER OF THE MONTH **
Congratulations to Águila Johnson, August's Member of the Month.
REMINDERS AND APPLICATIONS
I think I've harped on enough about jobs, but every time I mention it, there is a noticeable difference, so I'm going to go for it again. The jobs page( hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=11 ) contains lots of vital information for what to do with your recently graduated characters. Especially once all the students go back to Hogwarts, getting your character a good job is key to continuing actively roleplaying. The Healer training program has already begun (though it's not too late to join), and the Auror program will be beginning on the 1st of September. There are other job openings available for the picking which don't require any training, either, so make sure you take a look.
An important notice about QUIDDITCH - if we can't get captains, Quidditch will have to be canceled for this year. Apply to become a quidditch captain! (http://hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=815).
PREFECT positions are definitely still up for grabs, as are Head Boy and Head Girl (there have been NO Head Boy applicants so far). Make sure to message James if you're interested, preferably before the start of term. hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?action=pmsend&to=admin
** PRO-TIP **
Proboards has some great options for bookmarking threads and PM alerts that many people don't ever look at. Bookmarked thread alerts are handy if you have a thread in an area of the site you don't usually visit, or if another participant in the thread has gone on holidays and you don't want to check the thread every day, waiting for them to come back.
I highly recommend also modifying your PM Preferences and turning on the PM pop-up box. It's very handy for making sure you never miss a message.
CHARACTER ADOPTION
Have you ever been creating a character, and wished you could roleplay with their family, but it wouldn't be appropriate/fun to do it yourself, or you wouldn't have enough time? Or have you needed a partner for a plot idea? That's the idea behind the implementation of Character Adoptions.
We strongly encourage members to adopt at least one character. Adopted characters are great, because they help build character families and social networks, which in turn deliver richer roleplay opportunities and more involvement between members. They also have the advantage, usually, of having a place already set out for them - a history (at least a basic one), family, and sometimes close friends.
If you'd like to put a character up for adoption, or adopt one yourself, visit this brand-spankin new thread: hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=profiles&action=display&thread=880&page=1
** FEATURED THREADS **
Welcoming the Newbies - hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=reception&action=display&thread=809&page=1 - Horace Boerhaave, Head of Development and Training of Healers in St. Mungo's, gathers Healer hopefuls for the first installment of the St. Mungo's Healer training course.
Full-Time - hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=cqqs&action=display&thread=843&page=1 - Bored out of his mind, shop owner Padril Crennent works on a broom as he attends to his first customers of the day. Stacey Amber is a nervous wreck as she faces her crush and the Nickols twins innocently explore the store.
Interrogation - hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=ministry&action=display&thread=824&page=1 - Gordon Flintock, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, interrogates Michael Chiang and, later, Professor "Goldeye" Torlen about their involvement in the murder of Hilary Rodham. Things get heated between Goldeye and Flintock.
HOGWARTS EXPRESS
As mentioned above, the new Hogwarts term will be beginning soon, and so we've created a new thread for the Hogwarts Express!
hpredefined.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=otherplaces&action=display&thread=875&page=1
The thread is on a schedule, so what are you waiting for?
