Welcome to the Careers and Jobs page. Here you'll find pretty much all of the information you'll need regarding various jobs that your character on Wizarding Redefined can take.
The jobs listed below obviously aren't all of the jobs in the Harry Potter universe, they are just some of the best supported/most needed jobs which will give you more to do. Other jobs not listed here may not give you all that many role-play opportunities - but if you have a specific request, drop a line to one of the staff or mention it in your character profile and we'll help you out where we can.
After each section for each career, there will be details on how to obtain this job. If you see ATP, this stands for "Apply Through Profile". If you are making a brand new character, then you can simply put the job title in the Occupation field (eg. Occupation: Healer) and the staff member who approves your profile will do the rest. Otherwise, you will have to follow the regular instructions.

Major Jobs/Careers
- Healer: Healers are basically the magical equivalent of doctors. They treat and diagnose magical illnesses and wounds and are generally one of the most respected (and well-paying) professions in the wizarding world. On top of demanding grades from Hogwarts NEWTs (at least an 'E' (Exceeds Expectations) in Potions, Herbology, Transfiguration, Charms, and Defence Against the Dark Arts), it takes another two strenuous years of practical training, study and examinations to become a Healer.

- Reporter - The Daily Prophet: As a reporter for the daily prophet, your character creates articles which then get published in The Daily Prophet board. You can run a column (reviews, advice, etc.), editorials, or cover news stories. This is a great job if you like writing character diary entries, either from scratch or based on real events - news stories that you cover don't necessarily have to have actually been roleplayed, allowing you to be creative and write entertaining pieces for the whole site to read.
The Daily Prophet also offers junior internships, for NEWT-level Hogwarts students (sixth and seventh years) to write articles while still studying from Hogwarts. This is considered a very good way to get a paying job at the Daily Prophet Office once your character has left Hogwarts.- Full-time Reporter - ATP or send me a Personal Message.

- Reporter - The Quibbler: Being a reporter for The Quibbler is much like the Daily Prophet (see above) except the content is usually much less credible and very "out-there". Examples include an interview with a man who claimed to have flown to the moon on a Cleansweep Six and brought back a bag of moon frogs, and allegations that Cornelius Fudge (the then-Minister for Magic) was trying to take control of Gringotts for himself. There seems to be a particular focus on interviews with clear nutcases, stories on fantastic creatures which usually do not exist, and articles on strange conspiracy theories. As with the Daily Prophet, you can always pull these articles out of thin air if you wish, so there is even more room to be creative - the more insane the better.
Like the Daily Prophet, the Quibbler also offers internships for NEWT-level Hogwarts students.- Full-time Reporter - ATP or send me a Personal Message.

- Auror: Aurors are an elite group of Wizards and Witches whose job it is to to seek out and defeat dark wizards. The muggle equivalent would be a sort of cross between an intelligence officer and a soldier. They do not deal with criminals, only the most dangerous of dark wizards. It is a prestigious, dangerous job which is difficult to get into. To become an Auror, you are required to have an "E" NEWT in Defence Against the Dark Arts and at least four other subjects (recommended: Charms, Potions and Transfiguration). There is then another 3 years (or so - depending on progress) of stringent aptitude and character tests and training before being considered a "full" Auror. Nowadays the Auror Office is mostly concerned with tracking down and interrogating Voldemort's remaining suspects, though there are also other individuals that they are keeping tabs on.

- Hogwarts Staff: Professors at Hogwarts are (usually) intelligent, experienced and competent wizards who are responsible for teaching, disciplining and protecting almost all of the magical youth of Britain and turning them also into competent wizards with a purpose. Hogwarts Professors are usually expected to live on the grounds, with the students, though occasionally some have been known to instead live in Hogsmeade. Becoming a Hogwarts Professor is a relatively informal process - an interview with the Headmaster, and some credentials usually does it - there are young professors, but usually the most skilled and experienced wizards and witches get the job.
Other Hogwarts positions include House Elf (non-paying), Caretaker, Keeper of Keys and Games, Librarian and Head Nurse.
FOR ANY OF THESE HOGWARTS POSITIONS BELOW, either Apply Through Profile as described above or send James a PM. A link to your profile would be appreciated, as it will need to be checked over to ensure your character is suitable for the position you are seeking.
The following positions are open:- Professors

The canon characters (the Professors/Ghosts/Filch from the books) are also available for each of these positions, except for Hagrid and McGonagall. You can use the actual professor or create your own character, it's up to you. - Professors
- Running your Own Store: If your character has a bit of money to begin with, to start up the business, you can create your own store in either Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley or Hogsmeade. Creating a store leaves you responsible for it - you can advertise (in this very thread) for workers, set wages/expectations, manage stock, it's a pretty open job as long as it's within reason. You can take over a Canon store, or create your own.

Part-time or Low Impact Work
- HOGWARTS Head Boy and Head Girl: While not technically a paying job, the position does have its benefits. Head Boy and Head Girl are allowed to give and take House Points from any house, and have access to a special private Prefects common room and Prefect's bathroom. There is ONE Head Boy and ONE Head Girl chosen from the whole school, and they must be 7th years. It is their duty to assist in keeping good behavior, to guide young students, and to represent the school.
Both positions are currently waiting to be filled. ATP or PM James - HOGWARTS Prefects Very similar to the role of Head Boy and Head Girl, as described above. One male and one female from each house is chosen to be a prefect (making 8 overall). They must be 5th Years or older.
Due to a shortage of students (many of them recently graduated) all but two Prefect postions (Gryffindor Male, and Hufflepuff Female) are open! ATP or visit here - Crennent's Quality Quidditch Supplies: is looking for full-time adults or part-time student workers (who are over the age of 15, to work weekends and after school hours). Junior workers are allowed to visit Hogsmeade due to an arrangement with the school. You can read all about the business here (job details are towards the bottom).
- Leaky Cauldron: The Leaky Cauldron is looking for bartenders, maids, chefs and waiters/Waitresses. Apply here.
