^^ good I just wanted to point it out, yeah? Besides, you numbers are small and although more male members would be nice you should really take whomever you can get.

Personally, when it comes down to the whole 'male death eater' thing, all I can say is blah blah blah. Not very mature I know, but at the end of the day, we aren't following the HP books to the exact, we are using the basics. Please tell me where there our char's names in the books? Besides the main ones etc.
We've put together something based on the books, not something that has to stick to every little detail. So as for the death eater dillemma, I think it the sexism should stop. We have extended from the books rather well I think, but why do we have to limit something like that? I just don't think its fair personally.

That is why they call it Roleplaying, lol.
But I see the point, so I do not find it appropriate to continue the conversation any longer. ^.^

A thought for you guys:
Should we change the WR timeline to meet the traditional Harry Potter timeline, one which has Voldemort die in 1998 rather than 2007?
The whole point of setting Voldemort's deathdate to 2007 was so that we could roleplay using the real-world date, but now we're skipping ahead two years anyway, so we don't have that either. I'm thinking that if we set it to 2002 then things might be a bit easier to understand for new members.
So should we just start calling Voldemort's deathdate 1998 and the current year (after the time jump) 2002? We'd put this in the header as well, like sites with different timelines too, and update the Plot page to reflect this. We would use censored words to change all the years, and then delete those words so that they wouldnt cause problems on new posts. I still think staff would have to check through profiles for discrepencies though (people using dd/mm/yy form for instance).
Is it worth the effort? Would it be less confusing? I'm not so sure - what do you think?
EDIT: Oh, things should be in motion again very soon.

I think we could keep the years as we have them now. Its also easier to keep the level of technology straight so for example we don't have Ipods around in the wrong year or bluetooth phones when a mobile phone was still bulky and the size of a half brick.

you make a lot of sense, Wren! ^^ lol that conversation piece is officially over! Oh hell yea! I made sense for once *dances* whoop whoop....*stops* I just ruined it didn't I? xD ------------------------------------------------ I have to agree on that one. It could throw everything into chaos, especially some wizarding homes that may be all 'teched up.' There are quite a few modern things that have a tendency to pop up in threads, so changing the year would result in a lot of confusion for some rper's and result in a lot of frustrating reminding for others.

the current plot we follow is in year 2009, just like now. And WILL be 2011 .. we just skip two years into the future. Ipods and smaller mobiles are common now and are common in the plot as well .. just not at hogwarts of course

I like what you are saying, James, because it follows the books nicely.
However, the movies are in present time. I think people would find it harder to role play out things in 2002 over right now. I mean, I have no problem, but our member age group is generally 13-15.

^^These type of things aren't really used all that much in roleplay anyway though, so I can't see how that would be that confusing. As a general rule most witches/wizards don't have mobiles or ipods so I think most people, even if their charrie is muggle-born, just avoid mentioning them in threads anyway. I can't see how technology would cause all that much of a problem for most roleplayers. Phones weren't that much bigger in 2002 anyway...at least not the newest phones...
Changing the dates might cause problems with people changing or editing their Character Profiles though...

I don't know about that. You would just have to place the dates back a little bit. That is all. Unless you have an old character (like around 40 or so) I think that might make the difference.

Juliet, some people use dates in their history, and everyone has a birth year. Read my original post on the matter.
