[I'm just going to RP this post as both Adam and Natalie, since it's too time-consuming to switch between them every other post. And Adam's only in this in the beginning anyway...]
It was early morning, and everything was quiet in the alley. A stray dog nosed eagerly through the dumpster, sniffing out the location of a piece of chicken. Out of nowhere, there was a sharp crack; the dog yelped and scrabbled hastily for the exit, scattering chicken bones everywhere in his wake.
"Just a dog," Adam muttered, sticking his wand back into his pocket. He turned back to the woman he'd brought with him. She was silent and still, so used to being under the Imperius curse that even now, finally freed from her prison, she was as pliant as if she were still Imperiused. "C'mon, Nat." He slung her arm over his shoulders, and the two walked quickly from the alley. He had Apparated as close to a public park as he'd dared, and it was for this park that he now headed. Natalie walked with him, matching his steps perfectly, but remaining completely silent. Her eyes were glassy, and she did not even bother to look around as they walked. It was almost as if she had been drugged.
"Here..." Adam said, sitting her down on a park bench in the middle of the park. At this time of day it was fairly empty, but they were downtown; there would be Muggles all over the place any moment now, on their way to work. He knelt down in front of her, straightening her coat and smoothing her hair like a father preparing his daughter for her first day of school. It just about broke his heart to look at her - she was so thin that you could see every one of her ribs. Her cheeks were gaunt and emaciated, and a long shining white scar sliced diagonally down her right cheek, starting near the corner of her eye and ending close to her lip. She'd gone through so much...no wonder she'd lost her mind. "Stay here, Nat." He instructed sternly. "Don't move at all. Gordon will come for you, I've owled him that he'll find you here."
Nat raised her eyes, looking curiously at her brother. "Gordon?" she asked, and her voice was faint.
"Yes, Gordon. He'll come for you, he'll know what to do." Adam confirmed. "I have to go, I can't stay - they'll be after me. You'll be safe here. Remember, don't move until Gordon comes for you."
"Don't move until Gordon comes for me." Nat repeated, some of the sluggishness leaving her body.
Adam suddenly reached forward and hugged his twin sister tightly. She did not know he was her brother; she hadn't even known her own name until he'd told it to her a few hours before. And although she didn't know it, it would be the last time they'd ever see each other. Adam was going to make a run for it, but he knew that defying the Death Eaters was likely to be the last thing he'd ever do. They'd find him, and they'd kill him. But if it got Nat out from under their thumb, he was happy to do it. "Goodbye, Nat." he whispered hoarsely, choking back his tears. If by some miracle he wasn't found, he'd take down as many of the bastards who'd done this to her as possible before he was killed. "Good luck."
"Goodbye..." Nat breathed almost imperceptibly, thinking as she looked up at him that he was such a nice young man.
Adam turned on his heel and strode off back towards the alley he'd come from, not looking back. Although his breathing was labored, his eyes were dry; he'd accomplished what he'd meant to. He'd saved Natalie. Nothing else mattered anymore. He reached the alley, and with a swish of his cloak, disappeared.
