As JK Rowling’s fans will know, The Tales of Beedle the Bard was given to Hermione in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. One of its five tales contained an important clue, but Rowling’s slim new book is more than an exercise designed to raise more millions for her charity, the Children’s High Level Group.
I can only think of three authors who are genuine creators of new fairytales : Joan Aiken, Tolkien and E. Nesbit. Rowling is the fourth, blending the comic with the gorgeously grotesque and adding a her own delicate line drawings. Dumbledore contributes scholarly notes satirising the popular belief that the “horrid subjects” of fairy-tales are dangerous to innocence.
This was not talked about much on the site. For this, I thought it would be nice to just have a small conversation on what everyone thought about it.

Good book, I love the continuous themes, and the mention of said tales in the book. Also, I loved The Fountain of Fair Fortune, a classic fairytale, and the small drawing of the fountain on the inside of the book. Just goes to show that literacy isn't dead.

Wow, I am glad someone else likes it too! Personally, i think there could be a great continuation of The Harry Potter world from these books. Like, reading these two stories have given me so many good plot lines.
