The sun was brilliant outside, a brisk wind blowing as if it had business to get too in some far off place. The sky was cloudless, a tranquil blue with only the slightest bite of cold in the air, nothing a light jacket wouldn’t more than ward off. In Suki’s book the weather was as close to perfect as it could ever get in this part of the world, much preferring the hot airs of India, but this would do.
Normally Suki would be taking full advantage of the weather, no matter if it was out in the forest researching, flying Kane somewhere on Hogwarts grounds, or just taking a walk. But that was normally. She was instead buried among the huge piles of papers and books that filled her office, locked in a vicious struggle with an endless paper trail on a certain species of Ashwinder snake she believed could be found in the forbidden forest. She was certain she’d had a packet of research sent to her a few weeks ago about the creatures, but it had yet to arrive and her research was stalled with her current fascination with the Ashwinders that so few of the mountains of research papers and books she had acknowledged.
Frustration finally mounting up enough that it snapped, she knocked a stack of papers and books from her desk with a wave of her hand, snatching up the few papers of her personal research she was conducting, she stormed out. She needed to escape the office. It was spacious enough in its own rights, but with all of the research she’d piled in it, there seemed to be no room to breathe when you were stressed. Heading for Hogsmeade, she let her frustration out in an endless set of mutterings. Soon the weather worked it’s ancient magic on her and she relaxed, even smiling slightly. By the time she reached the small town, she was much more relaxed, looking around fondly.
Looking to the Three Broomsticks, she found the place amazingly empty. There still was a good number of people, but it seemded there would be no trouble with moving or finding a seat. Stepping in, Suki sat down at a small table near the window and got herself the usual cup of tea. Setting her papers and an inkwell in front of her, she massaged her writing hand. She’d been writing so much lately that her hand was in near constant pain, she was pretty sure that the ink stain on the side of her hand would probably be permanent. Leaning back in her chair, she smiled as she started to write, perfecting an introduction to what would eventually be her research book on the forbidden forest.
