Full Name: Alexander Beaufort
Date of Birth: 17th June 1977 (32)
Place of Birth: Castle Beaufort, England
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Alexander suffers from dwarfism and stands at 1.35 m, despite his features being fully developed and adult. He has stubby legs, a head too large for his body, a squashed in forehead, a jutting brow and lank, white-blond hair. He often dresses in rich clothing, on formal occasions adorned with the red rose of Lancaster.
Occupation: Manages the Beaufort finances and owns a dozen or so businesses.
Heritage: Pure-Blood
Family: The Beaufort family can trace it’s lineage to John of Gaunt, the 1st Duke of Lancaster and a member of the Royal House of Plantagenet. Through him, their lineage links to Henry II of England and William the Conqueror. These Kings, it is traditionally claimed by the family, were closeted wizards in a pure-blood line that was only broken shortly into the Tudor reign, though the Beaufort family had broken out of this chain before that point.
Beaufort’s are the closest surviving family of the House of Lancaster and as such have many properties in the area of England, all Wizarding, as well as the Castle Beaufort. The family holds its heritage proudly, claiming it is one of the last surviving unbroken pureblood chains remaining in the world.
The family has always been obscenely rich and influential since it’s manipulation of events during the Wars of the Roses, leading to the abolition of many of its rivals and a entry into the golden age of England which allowed the Beaufort’s to gain huge profits in trade. Since that time, Beaufort’s have traditionally been at the forefront of the current market, carefully orchestrating various market events both legally and illegally for maximum profit, though the family does not deal with illicit or illegal companies themselves. The Beaufort’s are mostly unknown except to Wizarding genealogists (ie. Most of the more traditional purebloods) and market leaders.
The Beaufort’s adopted the red rose of House Lancaster as their emblem, and the phrase ‘Debts repaid’ as their family motto, to be interpreted as both a financial promise and a threat to those that cross the family.
The Beaufort’s believe themselves to the be complete purebloods, believing their ancestor of William the Conqueror and his descendants were all closeted wizards. This is not true as John of Gaunt was a muggle born, which means the Beaufort's aren't pure pure bloods. This is NOT known.

History:
Alexander was born prematurely to Elizabeth and Henry Beaufort, resulting in his mother’s death during labour. His family was quickly horrified by the grotesque creature but his father, though he hated Alexander for what he perceived as murdering his wife, kept Alexander in the family purely because of their blood relations.
As a result, Alex grew up in a harsh and cold household. Though he had been born in Castle Beaufort, he was taken to be raised on an estate a short distance away with his siblings and other children. He was an outcast from the others and had no friends or close tutors. His brother, Jerald, was the only child who refrained from teasing or mocking him. Alexander quickly delved into books of all subjects, studying his genealogy for any other dwarfs in his ancestry (there were none) and various philosophies. He began to understand his condition and his skin quickly thickened to the various insults thrown at him. However, he was still miserable and without purpose in the family. He was occasionally taken to Castle Beaufort with the other children and though he was shunned by his father in favour of his beautiful sister and talented brother, he found solace in the comfort of the greatness of his family.
Alex sharpened his wit against those who would insult, eventually earning renown within the family for his quick tongue. He became particularly skilled at languages and was excellent at phrasing queries in an acceptable manner. He was home-schooled and though he performed poorly in most magical lessons, he was the top of his class in History of Magic, Potions, Mathematics and Finances. It was seen at this point that he would be an asset to the family and his father became more welcoming.
For a few years Alexander was perfectly happy and content. He had found his skills and place in the family, already learning advance financial techniques from the current treasurer and was feeling almost accepted. This ended on his eighteenth birthday.
Jerald offered to take Alexander into a muggle city, Lancaster, for his birthday without the family’s knowledge and Alex eagerly accepted. Together, they toured the clubs, Alex constantly being rejected by women he attempted to woo (though Jerald was always driving his enthusiasm). Eventually, he met a girl named Sally, who didn’t seem to care about his condition. They went back to her place and Alex made love for the first time. Alex was convinced it was love and Sally seemed to return the gesture so, using his small fortune, he bought her a small cottage where he could visit her. They were married in a secret ceremony in only a few months, secret because Alex was fearful of how his father would react to his love of a muggle woman.
On one such trip to the cottage, Alexander was greeted to the sight of his father and a dozen men in the cottage, a fearful Sally sitting in the corner, a wand pointed at her. Henry Beaufort explained that Sally was just a whore Jerald had hired to give Alex entertainment and was now stealing his money. To prove his point, Henry dropped a dozen sickles onto the ground in front of Sally and had his men have sex with her one after the other. He then forced Alexander to have sex with her, for the price of a galleon, or watch her die. Alex did so reluctantly.
This was the source of Alexander’s hatred for his father and his rebellious nature and Alex still has doubts about the truth of his father’s claims. This betrayal brought Alexander and Jerald closer together, however, as Alex was grateful to Jerald for trying to help him find love. Alex found it necessary to prove himself better than his father at everything and, as Henry Beaufort was a skilled Leglimens, Alex deemed it necessary to become a great Occlumens. He studied deeply whenever he was not working, desperate for a chance to prove himself greater than his family, something more.
He grew overconfident and at one dinner, challenged his father. His father was not provoked until Alexander insulted the deceased Elizabeth Beaufort, causing outrage. A brief mental battle ensured, in which Henry was victorious and Alexander humiliated. Tensions grew between them since then and Alexander has become a much greater Occlumens and would likely defeat his aging father in a similar situation today.
After that point, the rest of the Beaufort’s (excluding Jerald) treated Alexander as much as they had done so in the past. With indifference, cruelty and ridicule. He grew particularly spiteful towards his wretched nephew Winston and his sister Joan. He did gain some respect when he became the family’s financier, leading the Beaufort’s into almost triple their original profits and doubling their land holdings. He began to build his own private fortune by acquiring properties and small businesses with wise investments, making him a wealthy man even without his family’s assistance.
During the First Wizarding War, the Beaufort’s quietly allied with the Dark Lord (a decision Alexander disagreed with). They were uneasy about the potential power loss if Voldemort did fall and so cautiously and secretly aided him with donations and the string-pulling. Jerald, though he also disagreed with the Death Eaters violent methods, actually fought as one of the Death Eaters while masked in a few of the later battles of the war, quickly retreating and falling into hiding after the fall of the Dark Lord.
The Beaufort’s influence and affluence ensured investigations against the family failed and no case was ever made against the family, the general belief being they had remained neutral in the war. This would eventually bite the family back during the Second Wizarding War.
After Voldemort gained control of the Ministry of Magic, the Beaufort’s survived by pledging their support with many other organizations privately towards the new Minister. Shortly after the Battle of Hogwarts, a small group of Death Eaters approached Alexander, claiming to have solid evidence of the Beaufort involvement with the Death Eaters in both wars and demanded pay. While Alexander preoccupied them with talks and diplomatic niceties that lasted weeks, he organized a series of poisons and professional assassins discreetly. Finally, Alexander agreed to their terms.
Documents were brought to the next meeting, as well as a large chest of galleons from Alexander. As they drank wine to celebrate the agreement, the Death Eaters swallowed poison. Alex had the sole remaining documents burned, the bodies safely disposed and any other witnesses killed with the assassins. The assassins did not know their payer, or any information above the name and location of their target. With a clean swipe, Alex eliminated any possible backlash against the family due to the Wars.
As his father now grows older and his older brother maimed from the crossfire of one of the battles of the Second Wizarding War, Alexander is the unofficial head of the family. He intends to use his wealth, now significantly grown, and influence to manipulate the events currently surrounding the Death Eaters and the Ministry to fulfil his own personal goals and the ever burning vengeance that simmers within his heart.
Personality: Alexander Beaufort is marked by his quick tongue, sharp mind and general disobedience of most authorities for the simple reason of disrupting a organization. He is sympathetic to other outcasts and dislikes intentional pain for the sake of pain and senseless deaths. Philosophical and abstract-minded, Alex’s unique world view makes him an excellent political leader, with a sound knowledge of politics and the ability to make difficult decisions for the greater benefit of his faction.
He does place himself first, however, in any situation and attempts to pay back anyone who crosses him severely with appropriate measures. He can be cruel to his enemies and though he takes no joy from such acts, he takes no shame either. Alex is also prone to melancholy and despair, but this is often masked by wit and humorous cynicism. He is tactical, intelligent, sharp, sympathetic, careful and, most of all, vengeful. He is powered by his need to prove himself greater than his father and his family. However, certain idelogies have been grown into him over his education, with the most prominent being family loyalty. This has degraded to the point where Alexander will simply not kill a member of his family and would not betray them in the traditional sense.
