Miranda Hanson (Mother, Mud-blood, Healer)
Wesley Stahl (Father, Pureblood, Department of Magical Games and Sports)
Louis Stahl (Older brother, Halfblood, Deceased)
Amanda Stahl (Younger sister, Halfblood)
History:
Johnathan Stahl has never lived up to expectations, but he’s made his own and surpassed each and every one of them. When he was born, his parents were disappointed to find he was a boy when they had so desperately wanted a little girl. His older brother, Louis, was disappointed to find that Jon held magic when he wanted a squib brother to avoid having a sibling that surpassed him. The disappointments just seemed to keep coming after that, but amazingly, no matter how often he disappointed his family, friends, or teachers, he had them swelled with pride for something else.
Unlike his brother, whom could walk by 9 months and talk by one year, Jon was a much later bloomer. But when he did walk and talk, he was much clearer in his words and much easier in his stride. By the time he was five, he had bested his brother, not by beating Louis at his own games, but exceeding at things that he could do easily himself. Where his brother was great at using words and learning new things, Jon could build and create by sheer instinct. The two boys always competed for the attention of their ever patient parents. Despite the sibling rivalry, the two never felt any animosity toward each other, even joking about their competitive natures as they grew.
A month after his ninth birthday, little Amanda was born. Her birth brought a whole new side to the rivalry and it became worse and more volatile. With the new baby, their parents spent more time fawning over the child, making both boys have to work harder to gain their attention in the first place and even harder to beat out each other for the attention. As they worked harder and harder, they began to feel they truly deserved the attention more than the other and grew angry when that didn’t happen.
It all came to a peak the next year. A few days after Amanda’s first birthday, Jonathan and Louis were outside playing quidditch. At first their parents kept a close eye on the young boys, but they knew better than to get into trouble. After about an hour, their parents were paying less attention to them. In another of their increasing arguments, Louis began to chase Jonathan through the air. Jonathan, who was the better flyer, misjudged his brother’s abilities and led Louis in a chase that ultimately ended with Louis losing control, running into a tree, and being fatally injured. By the time Miranda and Wesley Stahl made it to Louis’s side, he was lost.
Jonathan never forgave himself for that, but decided to make his brother proud, living his life for the both of them. He became more studious, trying to make himself more like his brother. His attitude toward Amanda changed even, treating her like a precious gem, never yelling or treating her badly for fear of losing her as well.
At first his parents were too grief ridden at the death of Louis to even pay attention to how it happened. As they slowly started to take notice, Wesley and Miranda had two different opinions. Wesley was one of a horrid accident. People had been injured and died in sports dozens of times before; this was just one of those times. Miranda took a more drastic approach. She knew it wasn’t on purpose, but she made sure Jonathan never got into too much rivalry with Amanda. Their age difference and Jonathan’s new attitude made sure nothing too bad ever happened. Miranda remains very careful of their interaction to this day though.
When Voldemort came to power, Jonathan and his family fled to France in a desperate attempt to keep Miranda out of Death Eater hands. They stayed there, helping other mud and half blood witches and wizards into relative safety. Luckily for Jon and his family they were never caught or even exposed.
Returning to their home when Voldemort was killed, Jon was asked to come to Hogwarts with the other students his age when he turned 11. At first he floundered around, unused to the effort the school took especially since they were still rebuilding and readjusting. But soon enough Jon managed to pull himself back out and excel.
Throughout school, he still managed to do better at the creation of things, such as in potions rather than charms. Even though his talents remained in those fields, he pushed himself to understand the others, practically living in the library at certain times.
When the attack on Hogsmeade occurred, Jonathan’s family almost panicked and left again, but he convinced them to stay though. While his family waited tensely at home, Jonathan fought bravely to keep a sense of normalcy around him and those he saw as friends, but he always remained ready to run from the school should his family ever decide to leave.
Personality: A bit of a prankster, Jonathan can’t help but find the best of any situation. Usually making a fool of himself just to make others smile, he has no real care for his reputation or image if it makes other happy. Despite being a near constant goof, he does know when to shut up and when to be serious. He generally has trouble making and/or keeping friends due to his blunt and sometimes dark humor, but when he actually stops to think before he talks, he can be a fairly nice young man.
Likes: Jonathan is obsessed with quidditch. His father’s to blame for that though. He also loves everything and anything that he can make or build, he doesn’t even mind getting his hands dirty and forgetting about magic if he can create something. Jon looks doesn’t always exude strength or athletic ability, he loves stretching his muscles out in some type of competition, no matter what it is. Probably his biggest joy is when he can make another’s day brighter or make someone proud of him.
Dislikes: Thanks to his experiences with Louis, Jon despises those who mistreat their family, seeing families as almost sacred units. He also grows very annoyed and short tempered with witches or wizards who find themselves above everyone else due to their lineage. If faced with someone that behaves like that, he can often be found causing some harm or annoyance to them eventually, no matter the personal cost to him.
Habits: Jonathan tends to take off for a run when in deep thought and will often have to be in constant motion of some sort in order to remain focused.
Does your character like Quidditch? Loves it thanks to his father. He’s an extremely skilled keeper, but can play as a fairly good beater.
Strengths: Jonathan is an excellent student at potions, transfiguration, and herbology. He will often volunteer to help with all of them. He is an amazing flyer, having been put on a broom at an early age by his father. Generally seen as a strength by most, Jon exudes confidence and determination. Some call it being stubborn, but he counts it as one of the many reasons why he has managed to b successful in life. He also has the gift of learning languages easily, knowing not only English, but French and bits of Spanish as well.
Weaknesses: Jon is widely known as a more or less ADHD person. If not constantly challenged or in movement, he loses track of his thoughts and will lose interest in what he is currently doing. Even though he excels at potions and Transfiguration, he is rather weak at charms and DADA due to his inability to focus on things that aren’t always instantly gratifying. If presented with a situation where some one is being mistreated due to their blood or gender, he will often take to extreme measures.
Powers: None
Pets: A Persian cat named Laura. He often takes pride in her being ‘the most ill tempered cat in all of Europe’ as he puts it.
Wand: 8 ½” Apple wood and fairy wing
Broomstick: Comet 290
