Full Name: Holly Isobel Lamb
Date of Birth: August 8th, 1994 (16 years old)
Gender: Female
Race: Human Witch
Appearance:
Occupation: Student
---BACKGROUND---
Heritage: Muggle-born
Family: Parents: Dylan Lamb and Melissa Thomas, Muggles
Two older brothers - Jacob (21) and Robert (19) Both Muggles.
One younger brother - Iain (14) Wizard.
History: Holly's parents met in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam when they were both 22. They'd come, separately, on tours of Europe, and had ended up in the Museum at the same moment. Being artists, they'd bonded over a love of Van Gogh's use of color and brush technique and spent an unforgettable three days together in Amsterdam before parting ways; both assumed that they would never see each other again, but that was not to be the case. Two years later, Melissa Thomas was studying in Paris for the summer. She was sitting along the banks of the Seine, attempting to sketch, when suddenly, miraculously, there stood Dylan; he'd come to Paris a few days before in an attempt to garner inspiration for his current project, and had decided to take a walk along the Seine in order to clear his head. They had a joyous reunion, and by the end of the day, both knew that they were destined to be together. They were married at the end of the summer, and returned to Ireland, where Melissa's parents - who had died a year previously in a tragic car accident - had left her a house close to the mouth of the river Boyne. Nearly a year later, Jacob was born, and Robert followed shortly thereafter. Although they had agreed to only have two children, Melissa longed for a daughter, and after much cajoling and begging, Dylan capitulated and they began trying again. To Melissa's delight, their next child was a girl - Holly. She was given everything, spoiled rotten by her parents and her older brothers, who worshiped her beauty and her golden smiles. Then, when Holly was a year old, Melissa found to her surprise that she was pregnant again, and gave birth to Iain, a curly-haired little imp who loved to play practical jokes.
Holly grew up being best friends with the river; whenever she could, she would sneak away to dangle her feet in the water, or walk along the shore and feel the crunch of decades of old shells crunching in the sand under her feet. All four children learned how to swim at an early age, and Holly in particular had no fear of the water. By the time she was five, she could swim faster than Jacob and Robert combined, much to their chagrin.
A few weeks before Holly's seventh birthday, she and Iain decided to sneak out of the house and go for a midnight swim - something they had done often, but never by themselves. Jake and Rob were off visiting their grandparents, however, so the two youngsters went off by themselves. Things were going well, and after about an hour they decided they had had enough and struck out back for the house, when Iain's ankles got wrapped in a bed of seaweed, and he was unable to free himself. The more he struggled, the tighter the seaweed became, until he was barely able to keep his face out of the water. When Holly finally noticed that something was wrong, she swam back to Iain to help; but she could not tug him from the seaweed. Finally, she dove under the water to see if she could cut the weeds from his ankles; and miraculously, when she touched them, they released their hold and Iain was able to swim to shore. Neither of them ever spoke of it to their parents, or even to their older brothers; it was their secret.
Strange things continued to happen around Holly; she found that if she concentrated hard enough, she could make lights flicker, and as she practiced, she was even able to turn them on and off at will. She also discovered that fish seemed to like her; they swarmed around her whenever she was in the river. Eventually, she figured out that she could make them do things; she taught minnows to spell out her name, or make shapes in the water of her choosing. She kept this a secret from everyone except Iain, and taught him (or at least, she thought she taught him) to do it as well - although the fish only ever responded half as well to Iain as they did to Holly. They practiced together, making games out of the little bits of magic they could do, never realizing what they were until, a few days after her 11th birthday, Professor Dumbledore personally delivered her Hogwarts letter. Only when she had the letter in her hand did Holly show her parents what she could do; dumbfounded and amazed, they agreed to send her to Hogwarts. It was all Iain could do not to cry when he learned that his sister, his best friend and confidant, would be leaving to attend a strange boarding school somewhere in England. The only thing that consoled him was the fact that he was sure he would get a letter too, when he turned 11 - and sure enough, he did.
Holly did well in her first few years at Hogwarts, although she was "expelled" - along with all the Muggle-borns - when Voldemort returned to power before she was slated to start her second year. The war was never too bad in Ireland, so Holly and Iain were relatively safe at home there. Holly put her wand and magic books away and did her best to live as a Muggle and attending Muggle school with Iain. She missed the magical community greatly however, and was overjoyed when she learned that Voldermort had fallen and she would once again be allowed to study at Hogwarts, and returned to re-do her second year, reuniting happily with friends she'd made in her first year. She never attained scholastic excellence, but she managed to keep her grades high enough to make her teachers and parents proud of her. She has a special affinity for Ancient Runes, and it is the one subject she manages to fairly consistently have an "O" in.
---GENERAL CHARACTER TRAITS---
Personality: She's very cheerful; a bit on the stuck-up side sometimes, due to the fact that she was the only girl in her house, which led to her getting rather spoiled by her parents and brothers. She's beautiful and she knows it, and can be kind of show-offy at times. Having said that, once you manage to win her love, she would take a bullet for you. She's very compassionate, and always roots for the underdog; don't even think about making fun of someone in her presence, or she'll hex you.
Likes: Ancient Runes, Swimming, the countryside, showing off, having people adore her, joking, laughing, her brother, Quidditch (although she doesn't play.), cats, dancing
Dislikes: Transfiguration, being made fun of, being ignored, other people being picked on, heights,
Habits: She likes to show off when she knows she's good at something; she also likes to be looked at. So she primps and preens a lot.
Does your character like Quidditch? She likes watching it; she doesn't play however, because she is afraid of heights.
---ABILITIES---
Strengths: She's a very strong swimmer, and has a strong affinity with water. She's not a kinetic; she just gets along very well with the element and marine life in general.
Weaknesses: She can be very jealous. If another girl is prettier than her, or is getting more attention, she gets very upset and can become irrational. Also, she's terrified of bugs and heights.
Powers: Anything water related comes easily to her; swimming, etc. She can quasi-communicate with marine life; not in the sense that she can actually TALK to them, but somehow fish seem to like her, and she can get them to do her bidding sometimes, as in make them swim a certain direction, or make a pattern within their school, etc.
---OTHER---
Pets: Officially, she has a cat named Tex. Unofficially, she has a school of fish that live in the lake.
Wand: 11.5 inches, Mahogany and Phoenix Feather
Broomstick: None.
