Goldeye stood at the railing's of the Astronomy Tower, looking eerily down to the courtyard below. He was staring at the spot where Dumbledore's body had been found. He hadn't been here himself, but he had heard about it. Crumpled, torn. Frail. He wondered what he would like if he just plummeted. What would people think?
The wind picked up and Goldeye raised his eyes to the rest of the castle. Standing at the balcony, watching the sun majestically set over the huge, beautiful expanse that was the Hogwarts castle while his cloak flapped around him, to an observer it would seem Goldeye was king. He heard a step behind him, it rang on the pavement and sent a shiver down Goldeye's spin, reminding him of something to come.
"Hello, Baylee." He had seen her follow him and didn't really think it could be anyone else. It was too far of a walk.

Baylee had noticed Goldeye climbing the steps to the tower. To an onlooker it seemed he was wandering, not know really where he was headed. Baylee knew better than that, though, deciding the right course of action was to follow. One never could tell what Goldeye was thinking but it did worry her for some odd reason. She stepped onto the pavement of the tower and not seconds later his gruff voice resonted her name.
"Goldeye." She said in response, stepped up next to him and putting her hands on the railing, "How are we doing this fine evening?" She asked more out of true curiosity than just her usual courtesy. She looked over the edge of the rail carefully knowing that falling from such a height would be fatal. This thought drove her to the vision of Albus plummeting to the Earth. She had not seen it but the very thought of its occurance gave her chills.

"Much the same as previous fine evenings, really," Goldeye informed her. "And who are we to say that's it's fine? Did you know there's a theory that we are currently in a Ice Age and it's just a intermediate heat period. One of those heat periods can last the entire length of human history. Makes you feel small."
Fingers tapping on the railing, Goldeye continued. "Do you think he felt it?" The wind halted a brief moment, as if in respect, then started up again. The wonders of nature never ceased to amaze him.

Baylee listened to what seemed to be the ramblings of an old man as he spoke of an Ice Age and feeling small. It was true, she supposed, that things did seem quite a bit more insignificant if you thought about such topics. It made her feel like her life would make no diffrence to anything in the world and the thought made her sick to her stomach.
His next question threw her off balace for a moment but she recovered too quickly for anyone to really notice. She mulled over the question in her mind while retracing the stories she'd heard of the night, "I don't believe so, Goldeye. The way I understood it was that he was already...gone...before he even fell. Such is the effect of the curse." Letting out a sigh Baylee closed her eyes and turned her back to the railing to lean against it, no longer wanting to look down at the spot where Dumbledore had fallen.

"Oh, so he can just had to endure months of agony beforehand and death was a relief? Such a comfort." Goldeye's tone didn't change and there was a brief and awkward silence, broken only when Goldeye spat over the railing. There was another moment of silence. A child yelped down below, screaming something had got him. Goldeye laughed.
"We puff ourselves up to prominence. We're important because we make a difference to humanity. To wizarding kind. To the community. But really, what is all that? In another millennium or so, we'll all be gone and the Earth will continue as if we never existed."
