Inherited from his family, Harley has slowly been changing Duke Manor (inappropriately named, as there are many Manors owned by the Dukes and this is by far not the most grand) to fit his own specifications. When Dumbledore announced Voldermort had returned, he and Padril wasted no time in trying to increase its defences. Sadly, the manor was never attacked and the pair never got to test their various jinxes and curses. The Manor itself is about 25 kilometres away from Hogsmeade over very rough and rocky terrain and stands alone in a sea of grass and rock.
Duke Manor is situated on top of a small hill, the base of which is lined with an enormous hedge, hiding most of the manor from view. The gate is made of iron and the Duke Family Insignia is carved along its bars in beautiful patterns. The gate does not respond to anything other than the most powerful of magic, and the only way to open it is to ring a small silver bell next to the gate. After ringing the bell, the sound travels up to the Manor and reveberates throughout the entire house. One of several levers scattered across the house can then be pulled which opens the gate.
Beyond the gate, a neat stone path surrounded by large, well-tended bushes leads up to the Manor. Beyond these bushes is a large lawn; completely open with no cover. Anyone travelling along that ground would be instantly spotted. Hiding in the bushes is a number of various nasty jinxes, hexes and angry and vicious lawn Gnomes. Duke Manor itself is a highly imposing building, carved from stone; it was made in a medieval fashion; complete with turrets and five towers. Several huge glass windows line the walls around the Manor, along with many other small ones that were dotted around the Manor. The Main Doors into the Manor are huge and made of solid oak, with magnificent carvings of the Duke Family Crest, and a crude, roughly drawn PC in the bottom right hand corner. The two knockers are in the shapes of a lion (right) and a griffin (left).
The huge double doors open to a magnificent Entrance Hall ridiculously decorated walls, lined with paintings and tapestries. The room was empty except of decoration; its purpose was to inspire awe in the Manor with its magnificent glass chandelier and brilliant artwork. After a long walk down the hall, feet echoing off the tiled floor, one arrives at two pairs of doors to either side; one is hidden behind a tapestry and leads to the kitchens and the other leads to a large, richly decorated and comfortable anteroom.
First Floor
The Five Towers are; The Darwin Tower (The Northern-most), the Sydney Tower (the Eastern-most), The Hobart Tower (the Southern-most), the Perth Tower (the Western-most) and the Alice Tower, located in the center of the Mansion and higher then all the others.
Through a staircase located in the kitchens or one of the storage rooms, one can enter the cellar, where much of the alcohol left in the Manor by Harley's Family is kept. Through a variety of other stairs in that large room, you can enter Harley's Training Room (securely locked). The room itself makes up nearly half the width and length of the Manor, various weapons, both archaic and modern, hang from the walls, together with posters and pictures of the human anatomy. Shelves line most of the walls and are littered with books containing advanced jinxes and hexes. The rooms floor is covered with soft mats, where Padril and Harley sometimes duel or spar, and in the rare gap in the mats is usually a stone, straw or wooden dummy, which are commonly replaced.
For the most part, when entering a room, either I or Harley will have it properly described. The Library, Conservatory, Study, Billiard Room, Solar and both Harley’s and Padril’s rooms will be described in greater detail later and shall be added to this thread.
