we all know that wr has fallen prey to inactivity and, yes, even death. but as a wise man once said, "to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." so let us gather ourselves once more, my pretties, for a new adventure! with your help, we can take wr from the brink of extinction and let it blossom again as one of the great harry potter sites of its time.

i'm sure many of you are asking how you can help wr join the world of the living once more. and even more of you are wondering what is being done by the admins to ensure its comeback. to the former group of people mentioned, be active! get on the site every day to check for new updates, even if you aren't role-playing. (and yes, you may still role-play through this updating process.) and to the latter group of people mentioned, read below to see what things are in store for you!

I. we are currently discussing a new plot. this plot will continue on with the original direction we set wr in, but we will be bringing it up speed and adding a few new points. it's still in the early stages of creation, so please be patient!

II. mal and myself are currently working on two brand new skins to give the site a little spruce. these skins will be implementing new and different codes than wr is used to, but we hope you all enjoy them.

III. the staff has spoken about what kind of archiving we will be using to store the old and abandoned threads. not much has been settled on here, as we are trying to focus more on the plot than the small details.

IV. there is no deadline yet for the site's updates. we have no idea when all these changes will be taking effect - which is why it is important for you to check the site regularly. we will try to keep you posted on all the progress we are making, but please be patient with us. know that we want this site back as much as any of you and we are working hard to make that happen.

V. if you have any further questions about these updates, please post them within this thread and a staff member will respond at their earliest convenience. thank you.

I am curious t weather or not James is still on this site. I remember him mentioning that he wanted to place new skins, but didn't want another skin to effect the one we have up right now. Not that you and Mal aren't going to do a great job. You guys are quite awesome with the pain brush

Putting that aside, I am concerned that our biggest problem of the site has not been confront more or less even considered: The Advertising. This site, for the past two years (maybe more) has struggled reaching this amazing proboards site out to the public. It is also probably why this site is dying too. I mean, we can make this the most amazing and beautiful site ever, but if no one joins it, it is going to die like it did before and the time before that.

I have offered quite a few times to take this responsibility, but I would need people to give me moderating powers to control the advertising board. I have advertised for many boards, including ABC V: The Visitors RPG (The site I have been running for quite some time. In school, I even taken business web advertising (I am going into Chemical Engineering though at the University of Delaware, lol, but I needed a two computer classes to graduate high school) for two years, so I know what I am talking about when it comes to getting a board popular with both guests and members.

I have offered to help this site grow to Raziel, and then James and Revan when they took over. Honestly, I like James and Revan better because they actually listened to me. However, I will not bore you with such longsome details.

To sum what I said up, and to make things clear, I really think we all need to reflect on what braught this site down rather than add new and more popular things to the realm. Advertising is what killed us last time, and it will kill this site again if we don't face it. Like I said earlier, I can help manage the advertising. I never got an answer why the staff has not added me to their group. To be honest, it has frustrated me because this site clearly has potential of being the best around.

So, if we can all site down in this thread and talk about the advertising, I am willing to listen. However, to be completely honest, if we ignore such an important subject, I am not going to stick around and watch this site go down to 'knockturn alley' again. Sorry guys, but I don't see why I would want to stay on a site that is not even willing to consider putting some time in such an important factor. I will probably just give my goodbyes and leave TWOM for good. I have been here for six years (maybe five, I am not sure), so my time has been well spent.

Hopefully, an answer will come soon. Sorry for writing so much, and I hope you guys will consider what I have said!

Your concerns are well-founded, Juliet. I agree that the advertising was lacking a little from before and that it contributed to the site's demise. However, I do not think it the main reason it died. There were many other factors that had a hand in the site's present comatose state, which we won't discuss now, as this thread is for speaking about the future, not the past.

To address your concerns, I am not sure exactly what is going to be done about the advertising. All I can say is that it will be approached differently. To touch on your first inquery, James and Jon will be taking on advisory roles in the site's renewal. Mal, Mel, and myself will be providing the main admin support. That being said, things are going to change slightly. Not in major, catastrophic ways, of course - we don't want to mess with a good thing - but women will always run things differently than a man.

I cannot speak for the whole staff team on your request to become the official advertiser, so I won't promise you one or the other, but I will bring the matter up with the others, you can be sure.

Okay, here's just a little add-on to what dear Miss Helen already mentioned, I would like to suggest not focusing on advertising right now just because we'll want the site up and running with the new plot and everything before we bring in tons of new members. After all, if they join than they expect what they are signing up for to not change within a short period time. Am I even making sense?

Ah, I was halfway through putting an announcement up yesterday but I didn't have time to finish it. Don't worry Juliet, it's not all talk. I'll finish writing the formal announcement now and then put some stuff up for the new admins in the admin board.
