At its date of opening, Wizarding Redefined is set 8 months after the events at Hogwarts. However, instead of keeping with the "timeline", we choose to use the current year to avoid confusion, especially with members who aren't quite as familiar with the intricacies of the Harry Potter fandom The following thread is a compilation of Daily Prophet Articles that summarize whats happened, from when Voldemort was defeated until January 2008 when the site was opened. I'll be adding to this when I get more time. For a more concise plot summary, click here.

VOLDEMORT IS DEAD
May 2nd, Special Edition of the Nightly Prophet, published under 24 hours from You-Know-Who's death early that morning. It was controversial due to its spraying of his name across the front page of the Prophet, and that it also featured a large picture of him as a child. He Who Must Not Be Named, Tom Marvolo Riddle, was killed, age 69, by a rebounding killing curse fired at Harry Potter at approximately 2:15 AM this morning during a raid on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You-Know-Who and his army of Death Eaters attacked Hogwarts late last night, where Harry Potter was present. When the fight was looking to be lost, Potter offered himself as apart of You-Know-Who's ultimatum. He feigned death and survived to defend the school. Many Death Eaters were either killed or captured, others still remain on the loose... >> Page 2: Full Story Continued >> Page 3: In Memoriam >> Page 4: The Boy Who Lived Three Times >> Page 5: Kingsley Shacklebolt Appointed Temp. The following two articles are from May 4th, two days after the death of Voldemort.
Shacklebolt Urges Caution
Interim Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt issued a statement today urging all wizards to remain careful in the days and weeks following the defeat of You-Know-Who at the hands of Harry Potter. "I feel the need to remind everyone of the last time Lord Voldemort was defeated." says the Minister. "We know everyone is over the moon at the moment, but we must remember the laws that are in place, and we must remain discreet in our celebrations. "We've already had to Obliviate over ninety muggles in the last two days due to careless wizards. As much as I hate to ruin everybody's fun, I must remind you that breaking the Statute of Secrecy will incur heavy fines." Restoring Order at the Ministry of Magic Interim Minister Shacklebolt's reshuffling of the ministry continued today, with the newly appointed Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement Minister Gordon Flintock, and the firing of Senior Undersecretary to the Minister Dolores Umbridge. "I have known Gordon for a very long time, and know him to be a very skilled and dependable auror." says the minister. "He has lived through, and very personally experienced, the horrors of both wars, and is a natural leader. If anyone, I trust him to fill the role of rounding up You-Know-Who's followers and protecting the public." The position was a bone of contention between Flintock and former auror Hunter Evans, who were both praised as some of the best aurors during the recent troubled times; until Evans retired from his position as an Auror to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts. Evans who is recovering from injuries had this to say about his sudden retirement, "I felt that I could be of more use at the school. I also want to be there to help protect these students they are after all our future." Candidates for senior undersecretary include Junior Undersecretary Percy Weasley and Department of Magical Transportation Head Juline Retchin.

Hogwarts Students not to Return for End of Term
May 7th Hogwarts students sent home after the attacks on the school will not be returning to the school until the beginning of next term, acting Headmistress Minerva McGonagull announced yesterday. "There's simply too much damage after the battle. Almost an entire side of the castle was knocked out by the giants, and there is mess elsewhere. We simply can not fix it in time for students to return to regular classes, not to mention the shortage of staff on hand. "We also think that students will appreciate being home for a little while. They've been through a lot. Some have lost loved ones." Exams will be completed during the first week of school, giving some extra study time over the summer, much appreciated for the OWL and NEWT students who have suffered the past year due to lack of proper teachers in many subjects. "We believe other students may wish to repeat a year," says McGonagull. "It's only fair that we offer them that chance, especially those of muggle-born heritage who may have missed significant portions of their study time." When asked if Harry Potter would be returning to complete his seventh year of education, she declined to comment.

In late May, the Daily Prophet caught word of Voldemort's use of Horcruxes, from some of those present at his final duel with Harry, where they were openly discussed. They wrote an article, but it was denied publication by the Ministry, fearing the repurcussions (horcruxes are generally not public knowledge, and it is best to keep it that way. Despite this, rumours circulate, but they are believed to be nonsense by most and are usually dismissed. The destruction of Gringott's bank has also been covered up, reported as a Death Eater break-in.
More recently, a Taboo was secretly placed on the word 'horcrux' by the Ministry as a precaution, and they are monitoring those who discuss them. All books on horcuxes have been removed from most libraries.
MRC Head faces Forty Years
June 12th
Former Muggleborn Registration Commission Chairperson Dolores Jane Umbridge has been sentenced to forty years in Azkaban, when she was convicted of Crimes Against Muggle-borns by the Wizengamot yesterday morning.
Umbridge was responsible for the execution of hundreds of so-called "Undesirables", and the anguish and trauma of many more. She was also responsible for the discrediting of Albus Dumbledore during his later years, and is well known amongst Hogwarts students for her tyranny during the period in which she was Headmistress.
"The trial was a mess. She was very upset and disruptive," a Wizengamot member was reported as saying.
"She wouldn't sit still, and was constantly berating and insulting the court. At one point she wouldn't stop screaming. It was pitiful, really."
The decision comes weeks after Minister Shacklebolt's permanent appointment and new wizard guard system at Azkaban prison.
