Character Profile Template {OLD}

Comments will be in Orange. Copy and paste this into your thread. This will be used to sort you if you are a student, so be thorough. All fields are required unless stated.

Once you've posted your profile, staff will read over it. You may recieve a few comments or questions about your profile before it gets approved, so keep an eye on your thread. You may be required to change a few things.

When your profile is deemed fit, we'll move it into the appropriate board depending on your house/age and you can begin your new roleplay!

---BASIC DETAILS---

Full Name: If you're really having trouble coming up with a name, consider a name generator or flick through baby naming websites.
Date of Birth: Please use full format to avoid confusion (eg. 12th June 1990 instead of 12/6/90 or 6/12/90)
Place of Birth:

Race: A list of additional races other than Wizard and details on them can be found here
Appearance: Eyes, Hair, Height, Complexion, Dressing Style etc. You may post a picture instead.
Occupation: If you are a student, put student. For Adults, either put Unemployed, or the career that you wish for your character to have. Once your character is approved, you can apply to have that job (you may recieve the job as apart of the sorting process, depending on what it is you are looking for). A list of available jobs can be found here.

---BACKGROUND---

Heritage: Pure-blood, Half-Blood, Muggleborn, Squib, Muggle, etc. The majority of characters will probably be half-bloods.
Family: Parents, siblings, children, anyone else significant. Include deceased family.
History: Does your character have an interesting back-story? At least some info should be included here for adults. Does your story fit with the Harry Potter canon and our plot? If your character was a student during the last year of the war you should explain what their position was.

Habits: If they don't have any particular habits, you can leave this field blank.

---ABILITIES---

Strengths: This is a key field, pay close attention here.
Weaknesses: EVERY character needs weaknesses. It is the key to keeping things fair.
Powers: If your character has any special abilities, they go here. Be reasonable. A fourth year can't be an accomplished legilimens. The best characters are those that are balanced, and (for the most part) don't have any major powers.

Broomstick: If you have one, that is. Not every character should have a Nimbus or a Firebolt. The Firebolt is the most expensive racing broom in existance. The upper Nimbus models are only for teams with wealthy backers. Please treat them as such.

CHARACTER APPROVAL TIPS (Reading is Optional)

There are two main phases in being sorted: the actual sorting, and being approved. The part which takes the most time, and a lot of people dont realise, is the approval stage.

If you have a good character, being approved wont be too hard. Sometimes you might get one or two messages from moderators, usually just to clarify something that isnt clear, or another minor detail. However, a lot of people create characters that are too powerful or over the top. We cant have a site full of godlike wizards with anti-everything shields now, can we? The main reason that characters dont get approved right away is because they are too powerful or not appropriate enough for the site.

Here are some tips to get your character approved:

• As a general rule, don't have more than two powers.
  
• Include real weaknesses for your character, especially if they are powerful. The more balanced your character is, the better.
  
• Students cant be all animaguses, or legilimens, or occlumens. All of those skills are incredibly hard to achieve, and must be justified with a good reason. Your history should justify, or at least mention, your powers. This includes werewolves and vampires (tell the story of how your character was attacked).
  
• Don't contradict the plot, or Harry Potter history.
  
• If you are making a cannon character (one from the books), or a relative of a cannon character, make sure you read the rules regarding them.
  
• Make sure you follow the rules - use punctuation, full sentences, etc. etc.
  
• Just play nice, and be polite to your moderators.
