Natalie inhaled sharply as she and Gordon Apparated in front of St. Mungo's. The second Apparation of the morning was too much for her it seemed, and she sucked in lungfuls of air in an attempt to keep the dizzying blackness in the corners of her eyes at bay. "I don't feel so good," she murmured, still clutching at Gordon's arm like a lifeline as her knees shook beneath her.

"I know, just hold on." Gordon responded, concerned she might throw up all over his nice Muggle clothes. He looked at the floor directory with disdain - it was always rather cumbersome to find exactly which floor was the appropriate floor to visit, especially in Natalie's case where her immediate problems were simply that she was dehydrated and malnourished. Gordon wondered silently whether someone at the ministry could do something about that.
They moved towards the lifts, Gordon keeping a tight grip on Natalie. He took a shot and pressed 4 to take them up to Spell Damage. That was at least part of her problem anyway.

Several people looked at Nat with alarm as Gordon escorted her through the waiting area.
"Sir? Sir! You have to check in - Sir!" called the annoyed-looking witch at the front desk, but Gordon ignored her and escorted Nat directly into the lift, jamming the button for the fourth floor.
"Fourth floor...Spell Damage." Nat read off the sign, swaying slightly on the spot as the lift clattered upwards. Her eyelids were growing heavier by the second. "I'm tired..." she whispered, laying her head softly on Gordon's arm and closing her eyes.

Gordon wrapped his spare arm underneath Natalie's knees and picked her up so that she was cradled in his arms. He didn't want her collapsing on him, and at the very least he figured it would get them more attention once the lift doors opened. Once the doors opened with a ding, it was apparent the desired effect was not attained; the floor was filled with patients whose conditions were just as if not more dramatic than a passed out girl in a man's arms. Swollen heads, shrunken heads, a man with carrots for arms and another with an elongated neck which looked like it could break at any moment seemed to catch the attention of the Healers, and in any case, they all appeared to be waiting in a line of sorts anyway.
Gordon bypassed the little desk on that floor and made his way in front of a young female Healer. "Hello, there. My name is Gordon Flintock, I'm here on Ministry business." He adjusted the slipping Natalie so that she would not fall out of his arms. "Would you be able to please take care of Ms. Armitage here? She is in desperate need of care." He hoped to avoid a scene but was not prepared to wait for hours.

Nat felt her knees failing her and was grateful when Gordon picked her up; it was doubtful that she could have remained standing for another moment. Although still conscious, she laid her head weakly on Gordon's shoulder and closed her eyes, trusting that he would take care of her.
If anyone who had known Natalie - or the old Natalie herself - had seen this display, they would have begun to doubt if it really was her. The old Natalie would probably have slapped Gordon, and told him to put her down dammit, she could take care of herself. Then she probably would have fainted on the floor, caused a huge commotion, and in the end Gordon would have had to pick her up anyway. And when she finally woke up, she'd have given him shit for picking her up and acting like a white knight.
As it was though, she just lay there in his arms meekly. When he began talking to a Healer, she brought her head up a little and opened her eyes, looking around curiously. She gave the impression of being a weak little girl; anyone who saw her would have highly doubted the fact that she was 24 years old. Her eyes were caught by the man with carrots for arms, and she stared at him blatantly for a moment. "That man has carrots for arms..." she said to Gordon, perhaps a little too loudly; the man turned to glare at her, but his glare quickly softened to a look of pity when he got a good look at her. With a small sigh, Nat laid her head back on Gordon's shoulder and closed her eyes once more.

Susie sighed slightly as the lift clanged open once again-it was unusually busy today and she was not looking forward to having to explain once again that unless it was serious whoever it was would be waiting a long time. She frowned slightly as the man made his way directly towards her, skipping the front desk-that was never a good sign as it usually meant that he was the assertive type who would insist on being seen straight away.
"I'm sorry Sir, but we're very busy..." she began before she was interrupted.
'Hello, there. My name is Gordon Flintock, I'm here on Ministry business.'
"Oh" replied Susie, not really sure what else to say. She didn't really see how that changed anything, but wasn't sure the Ministry would see it like that.
'Would you be able to please take care of Ms. Armitage here? She is in desperate need of care.'
"If you'd just check in at that desk first Sir" she said pointing towards the small check in desk. "They'll take all your details and someone will see you as quick as possible, depending on the urgancy" she explained. It was policy that unless someone was clearly in need of urgent attention, they had to check in first. Although the girl was clearly malnourished and appeared slightly dazed, it didn't appear to be critical, so unless Mr Flintock had a very good reason not to, they would have to wait to be seen just like everyone else.

Gordon did not budge. He lowered his voice so that only Susie and possibly Natalie would hear. "This woman has been held prisoner and treated as a slave for the past two years. I trust you recognize she's malnourished but as I understand it she is likely to be in a critical condition given that she has been so poorly treated for an extended period of time." His tone was very authoritative, very ministry.
"I also believe she may be suffering from brain damage due to being exposed to the Imperius and Cruciatus curses." His eyes fell to her nametag. "I would really appreciate your help Ms. Kennedy. This is vitally important and if Ms. Armitage does come to permanent harm then you could find yourself facing charges of impeding a criminal investigation."

"This woman has been held prisoner and treated as a slave for the past two years."
Nat looked up at Gordon with some surprise. "I was?" she asked tremulously. "I was...I...tortured? Held prisoner? I..." she was starting to hyperventilate. "I don't remember...I don't remember! Why don't I remember?" Her breath was coming more rapidly as she began to panic; it seemed to have just hit her that she had no memory. "I can't - remember -" she gasped.

Post by Fayre Thackary on May 3, 2009 20:04:39 GMT -7
Fayre was walking down the hallway, immersed in a patient's chart, when the sounds of an angry man reached her ears. She looked up, her glasses slipping down her nose, and caught sight of a tragically thin woman lying quietly in a man's arms. At something the man said, she seemed to become extremely upset and began to hyperventilate. Fayre hurried towards the couple. "Hello, I'm Healer Thackary...Kennedy, what's happened here?" Without waiting for a response, she took the woman's hand. "Miss? Miss, I need you to calm down. Slow, deep breaths. Okay? Can you do that for me?"
She held two fingers to the woman's wrist; her heart was racing. "Get her to a bed now. We'll deal with the paperwork later. Go!"

Susie listened to Gordon speak while she looked over Natalie. Her malnourishment was not much of a problem-that could be fixed easily enough, though given that she'd been held prisoner for two years, there were sure to be other complications. The use of curses explained her confused and dazed look, though given Susie's experience of brain damage, Natalie was likely to be here a while before there were any signs of improvement. Curses like those normally had very long-lasting effects.
'This is vitally important and if Ms. Armitage does come to permanent harm then you could find yourself facing charges of impeding a criminal investigation.'
Susie raised her eyebrows slightly at that. There was no need to threaten her, she'd only been following hospital procedure. She said nothing however.
'I was...I...tortured? Held prisoner? I...'
Susie couldn't help but glance angrily at Gordon. This did not help matters at all, and if anything was only going to lead to more complications. Natalie was better off not knowing what had happened to her until she remembered herself, as not being able to remember would only distress her further.
Susie sighed in relief as Fayre approached her. She wouldn't be able to handle Natalie alone and was glad for the assistance.
'Get her to a bed now. We'll deal with the paperwork later. Go!'
Susie nodded quickly; there was a bed further along the coridor that was hidden from most of the occupants-it would be more private there. "Come this way" she said, gesturing towards the bed.

Fayre was busy performing an assessment of Natalie's physical state as they laid her on the hospital bed. "Dangerously underweight, probably anemic as well..." she murmured to herself. "Kennedy, order a course of Weight Gain and Blood Replenishing potions."
As Fayre looked at Natalie, pity overwhelmed her. With a wave of her wand, Nat's clothes were transformed into a loose-fitting hospital gown. "Ms. Armitage, I need you to relax, okay? I'm going to examine you." She began at Nat's neck, feeling for lumps or cracks that could indicate injuries beneath the skin, pressing lightly all the way down to her feet. "It looks like you've cracked a few ribs there, Ms. Armitage." Pulling out her wand again, she murmured a few words and the bones knitted themselves together.
"As for these bruises...some dittany and mugwort should clear those up. I'm also going to recommend a course of Skele-grow, due to the fact that you've clearly lose bone density due to your trauma. Ms. Kennedy here will sort you out."
Fayre looked over at Susie for agreement. "Once her physical problems have been taken care of, call me. I'm going to have to do a full psych evaluation on her," she said quietly, her words meant only for Susie.
"Okay," she said cheerfully for the other two to hear. "I'll be back later. You'll be in excellent hands with Ms. Kennedy here."

"Miss? Miss, I need you to calm down. Slow, deep breaths. Okay? Can you do that for me?"
Nat nodded, concentrating forcefully on keeping her breathing regular. She could sense that whatever was wrong with her was a lot more serious that they were letting on, judging by how fast the Healers got her into an exam room. She was laid gently on the bed, and Healer Thackary instantly began poking at her, murmuring words and giving orders to the other Healer.
"Ms. Armitage, I need you to relax, okay? I'm going to examine you."
"Ex - examine?" Nat asked with some trepidation, but Healer Thackary paid no mind and began pressing lightly all over Nat's body. With some embarassment, Nat closed her eyes. But when Thackary's fingers pressed on Nat's ribs, she gasped with pain, and without thinking, groped for Gordon's hand, squeezing it as tightly as she could - which wasn't much.
The pain went away abruptly however, when Healer Thackary used her wand to mend the bones. She then gave a few more orders to Healer Kennedy before taking her departure. Still holding Gordon's hand, Nat looked up at him. "I want some water," she said plaintively.

Gordon seemed rather satisfied with Fayre, even though he was being told what to do. He appreciated her authority and her simultaneous ability to recognize when it was more important to defy it. He did as he was told, moving her over to the bed and staying by her to hear what the Healers had to say regarding her physical condition. It didn't seem too bad, nothing that couldn't be fixed.
Natalie reached for and squeezed Gordon's hand, which was embarrassing particularly in front of the two Healers. He was glad for their private room. When Natalie asked for some water, Gordon looked at the remaining Healer to check her response, to see if it was alright to give her water.

"That should be fine," said Fayre from the doorway, where she was scribbling a few notes onto Natalie's chart. "Only one cup, though. Drink slowly, and from a straw. Kennedy, I'll have someone send up the Potions I've requested, can you see that they're administered to Ms. Armitage?" She did not wait for Susie to consent, but bustled out of the room. Several minutes later, a nurse entered the room, her arms filled with small labeled bottles. "Healer Thackary ordered these," she said, setting them down on the little side-table before taking her leave. [Dosage req's are found in Fayre's Journal, if you need them Susie. ]

'Once her physical problems have been taken care of, call me. I'm going to have to do a full psych evaluation on her.'
Susie nodded swiftly with a quick glance towards Natalie who didn't seem to have noticed anything, nor had Gordon.
'I want some water.'
Susie suppressed a smile at Natalie's childlike response, before conjuring a small glass of water and handing it to Gordon while she conjured a straw which she placed in the glass.
'Healer Thackary ordered these.'
"Thanks" smiled Susie as she grabbed the first bottle off the table and glanced at the label; Skele-Gro. She'd need one dose only. Susie poured some into a small cup and handed it to Natalie. "This won't be very comfortable but it shouldn't hurt" she told Natalie.
She then grabbed the other bottles and began administering them to Natalie; A Weight Gain Potion, and A Blood Replenishing Potion. Once Natalie had taken the potions she took the final bottle and poured some of it onto a small cloth.
"This should heal your cuts and wounds, but it may sting a little" she warned.
