Nat sipped at the water slowly, enjoying the feeling of coolness spreading slowly through her chest. She followed Healer Kennedy with her eyes, watching her pour a cup full of Skele-gro.
"This won't be very comfortable but it shouldn't hurt," Kennedy said. With some trepidation, Nat took the cup from Susie and tipped it into her mouth. Almost instantly she gagged and spat it out, making a face of deep disgust. With a deep sigh, she set her mouth in a firm line and tried again. After several tries, she managed to down the entire cup. "Bleagh," she said, smashing the little paper cup onto the table and shifting a little in discomfort. She could feel her bones tingling a little.
"...more?" She groaned, seeing Susie set two more cups in front of her. With a sigh, she squared her shoulders and gulped down the remaining potions. Luckily, these ones tasted if not exactly good, not as bad as the Skele-gro at least, and she was able to finish them relatively quickly.
This should heal your cuts and wounds, but it may sting a little," Susie warned.
"Okay..." Nat said, holding her stomach; it was gurgling strangely. "I feel funny..." she murmured, wincing a little as Susie daubed the mugwort and dittany solution onto her cuts.

Gordon, feeling rather obsolete at this point (having nobody and nothing else to threaten for), handed Natalie her water and made to leave. "Natalie, I'll be back soon to check on you, alright?" He felt an obligation to her, to track her emotional well-being since she seemed to have some sort of attachment to or dependence upon him. For now, though, he had Aurors to check up on. "I just have to see some important people."

"No! Don't go!" Nat forced herself to sit up, knocking Susie's hand away. "Don't - I don't have anybody else," she said. "Don't leave me. Please?"
Nat wasn't sure why she felt so panicked at the thought of Gordon leaving her, even though he'd promised to come back. She just knew that she didn't want to be left alone with Healers who poked and prodded at her and made her drink bad-tasting potions.

"You're not alone, Ms. Armitage," Fayre said comfortingly, coming back into the room. She had just poked her head in to request Gordon's presence. "I need to borrow your husband for a few minutes, to fill out some paperwork. I assure you that you are in excellent hands here with Healer Kennedy. Sir?" She looked questioningly at Gordon, completely unaware of her error in speech. "If I could get you to come with me?"

Nat's eyes bulged slightly. "H-husband?" she stuttered. "He's not...you're not...he's my...my..." she looked helplessly at Gordon, her face flushing. "He's not my h-husband, I don't think..." she said.

"My mistake," Fayre said, completely unruffled. "Nonetheless, you are in no shape to fill out paperwork and as Gordon here was the one who brought you in, I will need him for about twenty minutes." She motioned for Gordon to follow her. "Kennedy, keep her talking until I get back." she directed to the young Healer.

Gordon laughed. "No, I'm most certainly not her husband. I don't believe we've been properly introduced, Madam..." He made his way over to Fayre, and extended his hand in a handshake. "My name is Gordon Flintock, and I'm Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement?" Most wizards and witches knew him by name if not by face. Gordon considered his position to be the most important one at the ministry after the Minister for Magic himself, especially in a time of conflict.
"Natalie Armitage is the patient here, an Auror who was declared missing two years ago and who we've only just regained contact with. If you'll allow me, I must check in with my team, only briefly unless something goes wrong."

'I just have to see some important people.'
Susie hid her dislike at his use of the word important. It sounded so patronizing. She thought it was bad form of him however, to leave so soon. He'd barely been here and was going to leave Natalie alone after she'd clearly been through a traumatic experience. It wasn't her place to say anything though, so she kept quiet.
'My name is Gordon Flintock, and I'm Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement?'
That explained his attitude then thought Susie. Still, she would have thought that he'd stay a little longer with one of his Aurors. Apparently not, nor did he seem inclined to send someone else to stay with her.
'Kennedy, keep her talking until I get back.'
Susie nodded, though her old doubts came back immediately. Talking had never been her strong point. She was fine with young children because they wouldn't judge her, but she'd never had much confidence around other people.
Natalie clearly didn't remember much and Susie was afraid to scare her by asking her anything about her past. She figured she'd start with something simple; "I'm Susie. I'm still not a proper healer yet, but I'm nearly finished my training."
She paused for a moment wondering what else to say, she had never been one to talk without being prompted. "Can you tell me anything about yourself?" she asked. "Don't be scared if you can't-it will come back to you" she reassured. Susie wasn't sure that it would, but it was best for Natalie to not know that yet.

"I -" Nat felt a lump rising in her throat as Gordon and Healer Thackary disappeared. She swallowed it bravely, telling herself that he would be back. The other Healer was talking to her. With difficulty, Nat forced herself to listen.
"My name's Susie. I'm still not a proper Healer yet, but I'm nearly finished my training."
"Oh, that's nice..." Nat said automatically, a little absently.
"Can you tell me anything about yourself? Don't be scared if you can't - it will come back to you."
"I don't know..." she murmured. "He said my name was Natalie...and then Gordon came, he told me I was an Auror. I don't know. He's not my husband."
Her sentences and thoughts were rather fragmented, and her mentality was almost childlike. With a sigh she leaned her head back on the pillow and stared blankly at the ceiling. Where had Gordon gone? "When is he coming back?" she asked.

"Mr Flintock. Of course. Fayre Thackary." Fayre said by way of introduction, shaking Gordon's hand. She could see from the way he said his name that he expected her to be impressed with him, but it was her job to remain detached and professional. She could hardly start giving him preferential treatment simply because he was a high-ranking Ministry official. "It will only take you ten minutes to fill out this statement, and then you can check in with your other Aurors if you must. I'm terribly sorry to inconvenience you, but as you insisted on Natalie here being admitted without filling out the proper paperwork ahead of time, I must insist that you do so immediately." Without waiting for a response, she thrust a clipboard into his hands. "As much of her personal information as you can, please, and a statement describing the circumstances that led to her admittance. When you're done, take it to the front desk."

Gordon nodded, concealing his irritation. "Okay, that's fine." He took the clipboard and looked over the forms briefly. He hated forms.
"I'm so sorry to have inconvenienced you, and I really do appreciate your efforts to see Natalie Armitage returned to health as soon as possible. It is vitally important to our investigations." He looked back to Natalie, thoughtfully.
"I trust you'll keep her case information completely confidential?"

"Of course," Fayre said briskly. "It's the law." She followed Gordon's gaze to Natalie and cocked her head slightly to the side. "She seems to have a strong connection to you," Fayre observed. "That's good. I think I can safely say that you will be instrumental in bringing her memory back to her. Try not to do anything to upset her, hmm?"

'He said my name was Natalie...and then Gordon came, he told me I was an Auror. I don't know. He's not my husband.'
Susie wondered who 'he' was but didn't ask. It might upset Natalie and it would be best to check with Mr Flintock and Fayre first, before anything was said. Natalie's memory was not something which would come back to her right away, and judging by how little she remembered, Susie didn't think that it would all ever come back. Parts of it would eventually though. What was more pressing however, was how her brain was affected. She seemed almost childlike in her manner, suggesting that her brain had been damaged. That wasn't as likely to repair as easily as her memory.
"Start with the little things" she suggested. "What do you like or dislike?" she asked her. It was likely that she would remember the very simple things, and hopefully the more time she spent talking about herself, the more things would come back to her.
"Do you like reading, for example?" she asked. "Or quidditch?" Everyone liked quidditch, so hopefully Natalie did too, and maybe she would remember if she played or not.

Gordon smiled. "Very good then." He filled out the personal details as was required of him, and for the final section wrote: Natalie Armitage has been held captive for the past two years. She was discovered in a park this morning, disorientated and confused. She requested coffee but instead was taken to St. Mungos by Side-Along Apparition due to her poor physical and mental state. She appeared to have trouble standing and walking, complained of vertigo. "Will that do?" Gordon asked, handing the clipboard back to Fayre and pointing to the last section.

Fayre skimmed over the report, pursing her lips a little as was her habit when she was concentrating. "Fine," she said finally, handing the clipboard to the receptionist at the front desk. "Process this and admit Ms. Armitage under my care," she ordered, her voice full of authority before turning back to Gordon.
"Go communicate with your team, if you need to. I'm going to proceed with Ms. Armitage's psych evaluation, and afterwards I shall brief you in my office. Meet me there in one hour." Without bothering to see if Gordon agreed, she turned and headed back to Natalie's room. It might have seemed like Fayre was a bit of a bitch; perhaps she was. She was just so used to having people follow her orders without question (it came with being a prominent Healer at St. Mungo's) that she had gotten into the habit of being the same way with her patients. Most of them dealt with it though, knowing that she was one of the foremost experts in the spell damage field. It was, after all, why they came to her - because she was the best. She was allowed to be stuck-up about it.
"Alright Ms. Armitage, we're going to have a little chat now," Fayre said, sweeping back into Nat's room and taking a seat on a chair by her bed. "Don't be nervous; there is no right or wrong answers. Just say whatever comes into your head, okay? I'm going to just do a quick examination of your pupils...Lumos." She flashed the wand into both of Natalie's eyes; her left pupil was slightly larger than her right, and did not shrink when exposed to the light.
"Unequal reactivity to light in pupils, could signify concussion..." she murmured to herself, scribbling on her clipboard before settling back down into her chair. "Okay. So let's start by talking about what you remember. What can you tell me about yourself?"
