Wandering ((OPEN))

[Suki Samini]

It had been raining for the past few hours, Diagon Alley looking like a miniature river with the water. But in one of the brief breaks in the ever hovering storm, Suki slipping out from the Leaky Cauldron where she’d spent most of the afternoon talking to Tom. She had quit her job there at the end of her sixth year in Hogwarts, but she still tried to keep s friendly relationship with the man.

Wandering down the street, she couldn’t help but smile. Only a year ago she’d have only ventured here for the occasional school item, but now she walked through the bustling alley for enjoyment. Wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and a long black skirt, she looked rather sophisticated even among these crowds. She was still getting used to civilization again. Aster she’d gotten back from her research trip, she’d spent most of her time working on her notes and paper, not allowing for much time out.

Closing as a cool breeze blew past, Suki forgot to make sure no one was coming and ran right into someone. Catching herself, she blushed slightly. “Sorry.” She chuckled.

[Sky Cantorel]

Sky was on her way to Florean Fortescue's to visit her brother. She was busy fumbling with her flimsy Muggle umbrella, trying to get the damn thing to close, when she suddently tumbled backwards a few steps as she bumped headlong into someone coming towards her.

"Sorry." The girl chuckled.

"Oh, that's okay," She said in response to the girl's apology. "It was more my fault than yours - I wasn't really looking where I was going. Hey - Suki, right?" Sky recognized the girl from Hogwarts. "We were in Ravenclaw together - I think you were a year behind me?" She attempted to give a friendly smile - she'd been working on not being so anti-social - and tucked her newly red hair behind her ear. "How've you been?"

[My status hasn't changed yet - but Sky's been out of Hogwarts two years now. Is Suki still in Hogwarts? Lol.]

[Suki Samini]

((Nope. She's been a graduate for about a year now.))

Blinking, Suki studied the woman closer before smiling. "Sky!" she grinned. "Yeah, I was a year younger. It's been awhile. I'm doing great. I just got back from Romania a few weeks ago." Crossing her arms, she stepped out of the way of several bustling mothers. "What about you? I haven't seen you around."

"I'm uh, in the Auror training program," Sky said, finally succeeding in closing her umbrella. "And right now I'm off to Florean's. Did you want to come? My brother owns it, I'm sure he'd give us some free ice cream if we ask nicely. You can tell me about Romania if you want?"

Sky hoped this wasn't too strange; surely there was nothing weird about asking a former classmate out for ice cream, was it? She was working on being less anti-social but she had this sneaking suspicion that she was completely inept socially and by trying to make friends she was only turning people off even more than if she'd left them alone. She shifted uncomfortably and tried to smile.

Blinking, Suki tilted her head, but the smile never left her face. "I think I could do with some sweets." she chuckled. "But I'm really sure you don't want to hear about Romania." Brushing her short hair behind her ears. She had a healthy glow to her skin despite being under the near constant clouds. Just by looking at her one could see the difference from when she was younger.

"I mean, I don't know what you do in auror training, but I'm sure you'd find my trip rather tedious." In all honesty, she had focused on her research more than having fun and enjoying herself.

"Well, what were you even doing out there?" Sky questioned as they turned towards Florean's. "It wasn't just a vacation?"

She pushed open the door to Florean's, a small bell tinkling to announce their arrival. The shop was filled with people waiting in line to order ice cream. Sky flashed a grin at Suki. "Grab a seat? I have to run and say hello to Killian, and then I'll get us some sundaes." She headed towards the offices in the back, thinking to herself that Suki looked very different than she had in Hogwarts; it was a wonder Sky had even recognized her.

[Killian MacAdams]

Killian heard his office door open and looked up with an annoyed look on his face. His annoyance vanished completely however, when he recognized Sky. "Hey you!" he exclaimed, standing up and coming around from behind his desk to hug her. "What are you doing here?"

[Sky Cantorel]

"Hi!" Sky smiled, hugging Killian back. "I was just in the neighborhood, getting some new robes - I thought I'd stop in. I can't stay to chat though, I'm actually here with an old classmate of mine." She grinned wickedly at him. "Think I could scam some free sundaes off of you?"

[Killian MacAdams]

Killian laughed. "Is that the only thing I'm good for? Free ice cream?" He ruffled her hair affectionately. "I'll tell you what - give me fifteen minutes to finish up some paperwork and then I'll join you and your friend for sundaes. Sound good?" He sat back down behind his desk and picked up his pen. "I like your hair, by the way - it looks a hundred times better than that messy old black," he teased, giving her a wink.

He was glad that she was here with a friend. It meant she was getting better with people. For just about as long as Killian could remember she hadn't had a single friend, except for him. Of course she couldn't help it...but still. He was glad that she was seemingly moving on with her life.

"Sure," Sky said. "See you in a bit." She left his office, closing the door softly behind her, and made her way back to Suki. "Sorry about that - Killian said he'd bring us some sundaes in about fifteen minutes, if that's alright. So what is it you were doing in Romania again?"

[Suki Samini]

Suki had taken a seat near the window, not really wanting to wander too far into the crowd. She had a feeling some of these people wouldn't take too kindly to her bumping into them on accident. Plus the door offered a bit of fresh air. She would've sat outside, but she had a feeling it would start raining again soon.

Smiling up at Sky, she shook her head. "No, no it's fine. I really don't have much else to do right now." Leaning back in her chair, she chuckled slightly. "I'm afraid I've never been one to just take a vacation so the trip was actually work." As she spoke, she began to twirl her hair around her finger, falling back into the habit. "My mother researches magical creatures and I've travel with her on many of her expeditions. During those times I did some research of my own. The trip to Romania was to finish up my notes on dragons. I just released a paper for review over the behaviors and interactions of different species." A part of her worried Sky would find this all boastful and annoying, but it was the truth so why worry?

[Sky Cantorel]

"That's fascinating," Sky said. "So are you going into a career with Magical Creatures then?" She shrugged out of her heavy wool jacket and placed it delicately on the back of her chair. "I'm impressed with you actually - I could never do anything like that. Dragons scare the hell out of me. Weren't you afraid you were going to get burnt to a crisp?"

[Killian MacAdams]

Killian laid down his quill with a vengeance, glad to finally be finished with his bookkeeping. He'd been at it all morning. Now for a little distraction. He headed toward the counter, grabbing three sundae dishes as he went, and piled them high with ice cream and various sundae toppings. He then made his way towards Sky and her friend, who were sitting in the corner near the front of the store, carefully levitating the ice cream with him as he went.

"Sundaes, anyone?" he asked cheerfully as he reached them, setting the ice cream down on the table and pulling over a chair from a nearby table. "Hi," he said to Sky's friend, extending his hand. "Killian MacAdams. I don't think we've met."

"I don't believe we have." Suki smiled brightly, taking his hand in a firm shake. She was stronger than she looked, but her grip was more friendly than anything. "I'm Suki Samini." Sitting up straight again as she introdiced herself, she returned her eyes to Sky.

"As of right now, no. I don't have anyone willing to fund me for long expeditions so I have to research in my own time. Currently I'm starting research on the creatures around Hogwarts. No one has ever been allowed to conduct this research before, so all of my findings will be breaking new ground." A small thrill of excitement crept into her voice. She really couldn't wait to get everything properly underway.

"As for being scared....not really. I have a heathy respect for what they could do to me, but if understand them a bit, you're a bit safer." Pulling up her sleeve, she revealed a single long scar that ran along her arm. It wasn't ugly or disgusting, just a jagged faded line on her skin, but it was obviously not something one would want to have. "Besides, I've had my fair share of bumps to know when I need to get out of there."

[Killian MacAdams]

"No kidding, you work with dragons?" Killian asked, deeply impressed. Suki sure didn't look all that tough, but clearly she was. "Care of Magical Creatures was always my favorite subject when I was in school. What kind of new research are you planning to do?" He took a mouthful of his sundae and settled himself more firmly in his seat.
